Hitoshi Shinso is a U.A. High student whose Brainwashing Quirk can control someone who answers his question. He begins in the general studies course, trains under Eraser Head, and later transfers into the hero course. The official anime profile says he is active as a professional hero eight years after graduating from U.A.
Who is Hitoshi Shinso?
Shinso is a student at U.A. High, the school for aspiring heroes in My Hero Academia. An earlier official profile places him in first-year Class C of the general studies course, where he is working toward a transfer into the hero course. The later character profile records that transfer as part of his eventual progression. The earlier profile and the later profile describe different points in his story, rather than conflicting placements.
What is Shinso’s Quirk?
His Quirk is called Brainwashing. Shinso can control someone who answers his question. The answer is the stated trigger, so the ability should not be described as unrestricted mind control. The official profile does not specify additional conditions or limits in its brief explanation.
How does Shinso move into the hero course?
Shinso trains under Shota Aizawa, also known as Eraser Head. The later official profile says Aizawa instructs him in capture-cloth techniques and Quirk development, and that Shinso transfers from general studies to the hero course. This is the path from his earlier Class C placement toward professional hero work.

From student to professional hero
The later profile states that Shinso is active as a professional hero eight years after graduating from U.A. High. It does not give an age, so a precise age should not be inferred from this timeline.
