About the puzzle and finding past boards
The New York Times Help Center describes Connections as a word game about finding themes between words. Each board has 16 words to sort into four groups of four; yellow is the easiest category and purple the trickiest. The official Connections help page explains the rules.

Connections: Sports Edition is the sports version brought to solvers by The Athletic and follows the same rules. The Help Center lists NYT Games, NYT/The Athletic, The Athletic App, and NYT News App as access routes, and says the game is free to play. It also says Sports Edition has no archive, so an earlier board such as #318 may not be available to revisit in-game.
