The distinction matters: the finale’s setup is clear, while its stated outcome is not.
Is Akira part of a love triangle?
The finale foregrounds tension between Akira and Marin, but the cited official episode synopsis does not identify Akira as a romantic rival. It points to Akira’s stiff manner toward Marin and their two-shot photo—not to romantic interest in either lead. Calling the episode a “love triangle” is therefore a heightened reading of its awkward interpersonal setup, not a relationship the official synopsis confirms.

There is more context in the manga. Square Enix’s English description for My Dress-Up Darling Volume 11 says Marin asks the group about Akira, and the reason Akira seems to avoid her comes out. That supports reading the tension as a misunderstanding or character reveal, rather than treating it as evidence of a romantic competition.
What does the manga reveal beyond the anime finale?
The publisher’s descriptions provide later story context, but they are not proof of what episode 24 itself shows. Volume 12’s description says Marin has not told Wakana how she feels and raises Christmas as a possible moment for a confession. Volume 12 offers a route into the story beyond the finale without resolving the anime episode’s exact final beat.
