Spoilers for the Season 1 finale and Season 2, Episode 1. Kat McAllister, played by Janet McTeer, is a late-arriving rival whose reach appears to extend well beyond London. The series has not confirmed that she is definitively more powerful than the Harrigans; the theory rests on her international connections, her attempt to recruit Harry Da Souza, and the Harrigans’ growing instability.
Who is Kat McAllister in MobLand?
Kat McAllister is a character played by Janet McTeer. She appears late in Season 1 and is positioned as a major antagonist in Season 2. Paramount+’s series page identifies MobLand as a crime drama centered on the Harrigan family and its violent conflict with rivals; Kat is one of the figures challenging the family’s position.
Her exact organization, resources, and political reach have not been established as a complete on-screen biography. What the story does establish is that she has ambition and access to a sphere of influence Harry recognizes as larger than the Harrigans’ usual world.
Why does Kat approach Harry?
In the Season 1 finale, Kat makes Harry Da Souza another offer. Harry is the Harrigans’ trusted fixer, so recruiting him would give Kat a capable operator with direct knowledge of how the family works. She is not merely threatening the Harrigans from outside; she is trying to draw a key person out of their orbit.

Paramount+’s Season 1 finale explainer describes Kat’s offer as “a chance to play with the real movers and shakers on an international scale.” That wording indicates the ambition of the opportunity she presents, but it does not specify the institutions or power structure behind it.
Harry refuses and remains loyal to the Harrigans. Kat’s offer therefore does not prove she has won him over or weakened the family in practice. It does show that she sees value in recruiting its fixer—and that the coming conflict remains open after he says no.

What makes Kat seem more powerful than the Harrigans?
Her implied reach is international
The Harrigans’ power is presented through a family empire and its London-centered criminal conflict. Kat’s pitch to Harry points to an international arena. That contrast supports the idea that she may have access to a wider network, rather than simply being another local rival. The precise scope of that network remains unknown.
She targets leverage, not just territory
Harry’s importance comes from what he can do for the Harrigans: he is a fixer trusted with consequential work. Kat’s attempt to recruit him suggests a strategy built around talent and access as well as force. The series has not shown that this approach has succeeded, but the offer itself frames her as a rival prepared to contest the family from within its perimeter.

The Harrigans are vulnerable from inside
Season 2’s official framing emphasizes a fractured Harrigan family trying to hold its empire together while rivals threaten it. Internal division matters to the comparison: a rival can gain an advantage when a family is struggling to maintain unity. It is not, by itself, proof that Kat controls more resources or has already displaced them.
What does Harry’s Season 2 warning actually establish?
In its September 18, 2026 recap of Season 2, Episode 1, TechRadar reports Harry saying, “She’s gonna eat us piece by piece,” and, “Her mob has eight trillion in cash and the world’s biggest nuclear arsenal.” Those are Harry’s in-world words, not an independently verified statistic or an objective narration of Kat’s resources.

The scale of the claim makes it sound deliberately overwhelming, but the episode’s line should not be treated as a confirmed balance sheet, proof that Kat possesses a nuclear arsenal, or evidence that she controls a particular government. It conveys how seriously Harry takes the threat. The show has not supplied an independently established figure for Kat’s wealth or the size of her organization.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. So, is Kat actually more powerful than the Harrigans?
The strongest version of the theory is that Kat operates on a broader stage and can challenge the Harrigans through recruitment and external connections while their own family is fractured. That makes her a credible threat, potentially with greater reach. But “more powerful” is still an interpretation, not a settled fact in the series: the extent of her operation is opaque, Harry has refused her, and the Harrigans have not been shown defeated or replaced.
