Developed by Melbourne studio Beethoven & Dinosaur and published by Annapurna Interactive, it is a narrative adventure about three friends sharing one last night together. Music links a series of dreamlike, playable memories—but official listings do not describe the full soundtrack as exclusively from the 1980s.
What kind of game is Mixtape?
Mixtape follows three friends on their last adventure together. Their playlist draws them into imaginative reenactments of formative memories, with playable scenes that range from skateboarding and flying to taking photos at an abandoned theme park and hitting baseballs. The game is built around story, music and varied activities, rather than being described as a conventional rhythm game. Annapurna Interactive’s game page and the Xbox listing provide the official descriptions.
What is known about the soundtrack?
Official Xbox material names music by DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, and the Cure, “and many more.” These are named artists, not a complete track list. The listings reviewed do not establish the total number of songs, give every song title, or confirm a standalone soundtrack release. Xbox Wire’s June 11, 2025 preview and the current Xbox and PlayStation store descriptions list the artists.
The decade labels need care. Tribeca Festival’s 2025 announcement described the reveal-era game as set to a “curated 90s soundtrack,” while the supplied headline calls it an “’80s soundtrack.” Later official store listings name artists without claiming the music is confined to one decade. The safe description is a curated, nostalgia-driven soundtrack featuring artists associated with multiple eras—not a verified, exclusively ’80s playlist. Tribeca’s 2025 games announcement records the earlier wording.

Who might enjoy it?
The premise and format point toward players drawn to character-led stories, memory, music, and short, varied sequences rather than one sustained style of play. The official descriptions establish those ingredients, but they do not provide a full track list or a detailed breakdown of the length and structure of every activity. The artist names offer a feel for the musical range without proving that any particular song appears in the game.
