Miranda Derrick said in a June 10, 2024 Instagram video that she and her husband felt their lives had been put in danger after Netflix released Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult. She alleged that they had been followed and stalked and had received hate mail, death threats, and messages urging them to die by suicide. The available reports document Derrick’s statement; they do not independently verify each alleged incident.
What did Miranda Derrick say?
In the video, Derrick said: “Before this documentary, my husband and I felt safe. Now that this documentary is out, we feel like our lives have been put in danger. We have both been followed in our cars, we have received hate mail, death threats, people have been sending us messages to commit suicide, and we’ve been stalked.” Variety published the quotation on June 12, 2024, attributing it to Derrick’s video. It is her account, not an independent finding that each event occurred. Variety
Derrick also said she and her family had been meeting privately over the preceding couple of years in an effort to repair their relationship, and that the documentary had made it harder to continue those efforts. Variety
When did she make the claim?
Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult, a three-episode Netflix documentary, premiered May 29, 2024. Derrick posted the video on June 10, less than two weeks later. Variety and Vanity Fair covered her comments on June 12 and June 11, respectively. Variety Vanity Fair

What did Derrick and her family say about the documentary?
Derrick’s position
On June 4, Derrick called the documentary “a one-sided story.” Forbes reported that she said she did not consider herself a victim or in harm and did not condone abuse. She also said pending litigation meant she could not comment on specific allegations. These were her public statements; they do not settle the underlying dispute. Forbes
Her family’s account
The documentary features concerns from Derrick’s family about her relationship with 7M Films and Shekinah Church. Derrick did not participate in the documentary, according to Vanity Fair, and disputes its framing. Her sister Melanie Wilking told the Los Angeles Times that the family wanted to support Derrick and protect her from what they regarded as an unsafe environment. That is the family’s stated intent, alongside Derrick’s account that the documentary made reconciliation more difficult. Vanity Fair Los Angeles Times

Are the alleged threats independently confirmed?
The cited June 2024 coverage reports Derrick’s allegations but does not provide independent confirmation of the alleged following, stalking, hate mail, death threats, or suicide messages. It does not establish who, if anyone, was responsible, or report a dated law-enforcement or court finding confirming the incidents. The claims should therefore be described as Derrick’s allegations, not as verified events or proof of a particular person’s conduct.
The documentary’s title uses the word “cult,” but that label should not be treated as an established fact about 7M Films or Shekinah Church. The reporting presents competing accounts and concerns; it does not, by itself, resolve allegations of coercion or abuse.
