The first Supergirl teaser introduces Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El on a journey that pairs an unlikely alliance with questions of vengeance and justice. DC’s official trailer breakdown, published December 12, 2025, identifies the teaser and connects the film to Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
What happens in the first Supergirl teaser?
DC’s official premise describes Kara reluctantly joining an unlikely companion for an interstellar journey after a ruthless adversary strikes too close to home. The film is framed around both vengeance and justice; the teaser breakdown provides more context for the people involved without confirming every possible reading of its images as movie plot.
DC identifies Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks vengeance for her father, murdered by Krem of the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts. The teaser also features Krypto and Jason Momoa as Lobo. Those details set up the story’s central conflict, but the presence of characters or imagery in a teaser is not confirmation that every event from the comic will appear in the film. DC’s December 12, 2025 trailer breakdown discusses both what the teaser shows and how it relates to the comic.
Who is Milly Alcock playing?
Alcock plays Kara Zor-El, the character known as Supergirl. Craig Gillespie directs, and Ana Nogueira wrote the screenplay. DC’s official movie page lists the cast as Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet and Jason Momoa. Peter Safran and James Gunn are producers. DC’s official film page describes the movie as action and science fiction.

In a separate DC feature, Alcock describes Kara as someone who “doesn’t have a facade,” calling that quality refreshing to play. James Gunn, DC Studios co-chairman, also characterizes the heroine as imperfect and messy but possessing “a beautiful soul.” Those comments point to a character defined by flaws and openness rather than a polished heroic image. The feature includes comments from Alcock, Gillespie and Gunn.
Is the movie based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?
Yes. DC identifies the Eisner-winning Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely as the film’s comic basis. The series is an eight-issue limited series. The teaser and DC’s breakdown offer a way to recognize that connection, but they do not establish how closely the finished film will follow the comic or which story details it will change.
