What is Miley Cyrus wearing on the cover?
The cover was photographed by Glen Luchford and shows Cyrus wearing archival Thierry Mugler couture from 1997, according to Sony. Vogue’s March 31, 2025 feature described a wider visual wardrobe assembled with Cyrus’s longtime stylist Bradley Kenneth, drawing on archival Mugler, Jean Paul Gaultier and Bob Mackie alongside custom designs.
Kenneth told Vogue: “The fashion direction is always inspired by Miley and the music. This era has a richness and depth that feels both modern and timeless. The looks reflect that same energy. For me, it was about translating the music through the styling into something visual and elevated.” The cover look was part of a fashion-and-film identity for the album, rather than simply an everyday portrait. What does the album sound like?
Sony described the 13-track album as joining emotional clarity with cinematic production. Collaborators named by the label include Brittany Howard, Maxx Morando and Michael Pollack. In its May 27, 2025 review, the Associated Press heard elements of pop, rock, electronic music, disco and funk, and argued that the album works in its own right rather than only as a film score. That is the AP’s critical assessment, not a label description or an objective genre classification. Read the Associated Press review.
How is the visual film connected to the album?
Something Beautiful was accompanied by a full-length visual film. Sony announced a premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 6, 2025, a one-night theatrical release in the United States and Canada on June 12, and international screenings beginning June 27. These were 2025 launch dates, not upcoming screenings. The label credited Cyrus, Jacob Bixenman, Brendan Walter and Panos Cosmatos as directors, with Benoît Debie as cinematographer. Sony’s album-release announcement gives the film details.
