When did Michael Easton leave General Hospital?
Easton announced his departure in a video posted to Instagram on June 26, 2024. TVLine reported that his final airdate was June 27, 2024, a date also reported by TV Insider.

In the farewell video, Easton said he had just filmed his final scenes. He joked that he had “always been partial to the Irish goodbye,” meaning leaving a party without telling anyone, and thanked the show’s cast and crew for letting him share their stage.
What did he mean by “10 years”?
Easton thanked the cast and crew for allowing him to share the stage for the “past 10 years,” as TVLine quoted him. TV Insider describes his General Hospital appearances as beginning in 2012 and continuing on and off. The two accounts use different measures: his farewell described the span of his association, while the reporting notes that his appearances were intermittent.

Which characters did Michael Easton play?
Easton played three roles on General Hospital: John McBain, Silas Clay, and Hamilton Finn. TV Insider reported that he joined the show in 2012 after appearing on One Life to Live.
Why did Michael Easton leave?
The available reports establish that Easton announced his exit and had filmed his final scenes, but they do not give a specific reason for the departure. They do not establish whether it resulted from a contract decision, a personal choice, a story direction, or a conflict.

In a July 2024 interview with Soap Hub, reported by Us Weekly on July 5, Easton said, “I think there was a finality [to my exit], and there was a finality for me to it, too.” He also said he was not done with soap operas and hoped to find another suitable role and storyline. That expressed interest did not itself announce a new casting.
