How Hall fits into Dexter: Original Sin
Original Sin is a prequel set in 1991 Miami. Paramount’s listing describes Dexter’s transition from student to avenging serial killer, including the start of his forensics internship at Miami Metro. Hall supplies Dexter’s inner narration; he does not play young Dexter on screen. That role belongs to Patrick Gibson.
The first season has 10 episodes and premiered on December 13, 2024, according to Paramount’s series listing.

How Hall returns in Dexter: Resurrection
In Resurrection, Hall again plays Dexter Morgan in a story that follows New Blood. A CBS-provided announcement dated October 8, 2025 describes the first season’s premise: after being shot by Harrison, Dexter wakes and goes to New York City to look for him. This is a present-day continuation, not another story about Dexter’s youth.
The same announcement said Resurrection had been renewed for a second season and that its writers’ room had opened. It did not establish a season-two premiere date or subsequent production details. CBS Studios’ October 8, 2025 announcement
Where to watch
Paramount materials identify Paramount+ with SHOWTIME as the U.S. streaming destination. The October 2025 renewal announcement said all first-season Resurrection episodes were then available to Paramount+ Premium subscribers. Streaming catalogs, plan access, and availability outside the United States can change, so check the service in your territory for current details.

Hall’s involvement does not mean he plays both versions of Dexter on screen. Original Sin uses his voice to connect the prequel’s young Dexter to the character audiences know, while Gibson portrays the character in the 1991 storyline. Resurrection, by contrast, brings Hall back as Dexter in the post-New Blood story.
The 2024 announcement also noted that the original Dexter ran for eight seasons and that New Blood premiered in 2021. Those milestones place the two newer series in the franchise’s history: one looks back to Dexter’s early years, while the other moves his story forward.
