Metro Boomin testified on September 24, 2025, that he and Vanessa LeMaistre had consensual sex twice and that she was conscious throughout. LeMaistre testified that the encounter was non-consensual. A federal jury later found Metro not liable on all four actionable claims in the civil case; that verdict was not a criminal acquittal.
What Metro Boomin said in court
On the second day of the Los Angeles civil trial, Metro—whose legal name is Leland Wayne—said he and LeMaistre had sex on two occasions. He testified that she was conscious throughout, did not say no or indicate discomfort, and gave him no reason to believe she did not want sex. Asked by his attorney whether he sexually assaulted her, he answered, “No way in the world. No.” Meghann Cuniff reported his testimony on September 25, 2025.

Metro also testified that he did not know LeMaistre was upset until she filed suit eight years after the encounter. He said he had not been told she was pregnant and testified that he used condoms. These are statements he made under oath, not separate findings by the jury.
His account of the song at issue
LeMaistre said the 2017 song “Rap Saved Me” referred to the alleged assault. Metro testified that he did not write its lyrics and disputed her account of a music video connected to the song. The testimony did not itself establish what the song or video meant.

What Vanessa LeMaistre alleged
LeMaistre’s lawsuit alleged that in 2016 she took half a Xanax and a shot of alcohol during a visit connected to a recording studio, blacked out, and later awoke to Wayne raping her. She said she learned weeks later that she was pregnant and had an abortion. These details come from her allegations and testimony; they were disputed at trial. Wayne’s attorney, Lawrence Hinkle II, denied the allegations when the lawsuit became public, calling them false and a “pure shakedown,” according to the Associated Press’s October 30, 2024, report.
LeMaistre testified that the encounter was non-consensual. Metro’s lawyers argued that it was consensual and challenged her credibility and the timing of her lawsuit. Complex reported that she sought $3.4 million to $3.7 million in damages; that was a demand, not an award. The defense also pointed to messages from 2017 and 2018. Neither the requested amount nor the parties’ arguments establish what happened.

Why the case surfaced years later
LeMaistre said she understood the alleged incident as a source of continuing trauma after a 2024 ayahuasca ceremony during a therapy session in Peru. That was her explanation for the timing, as presented at trial; it did not independently prove the underlying allegations.

In September 2025, a federal jury found Metro not liable on all four actionable claims in the civil case. The Washington Post reported the verdict and that Metro had never been criminally charged over these accusations. The jury’s decision resolved the civil claims before it; it was not a criminal verdict or an acquittal.

After the verdict, Metro said he was grateful and wanted to put the matter behind him. The Los Angeles Times quoted him: “I’m grateful and thankful to God that I can finally put all of this nonsense behind me.” LeMaistre’s attorney, Michael J. Willemin, expressed disappointment and said he believed the verdict would be overturned on appeal. The available reporting cited here does not establish whether an appeal was filed or its status.
