What did the lawsuit allege?
Vanessa LeMaistre’s October 2024 civil complaint, filed in Los Angeles, named Leland Tyler Wayne, professionally known as Metro Boomin, as the defendant. It alleged rape, sexual battery and gender violence connected to an encounter in 2016. Those claims were allegations in a civil pleading, not established findings.

As the Associated Press summarized the complaint, LeMaistre alleged that she met Wayne in 2016 and later visited him at a California recording studio. She said she blacked out after consuming alcohol and Xanax, woke in another location and had been sexually assaulted. The complaint also alleged that she later became pregnant and had an abortion. These details describe LeMaistre’s account as reported, not facts independently established by a court. Associated Press report
The complaint also alleged that lyrics in the Metro Boomin-produced song “Rap Saved Me” referred to the claimed incident. How did Metro Boomin respond?
Wayne’s attorney, Lawrence Hinkle II, denied the allegations in a statement reported by the Associated Press: “These are false accusations.” Hinkle said Wayne would defend himself. Associated Press report on the denial
What did the jury decide?
In September 2025, a Los Angeles civil jury found Wayne not liable for sexual assault and battery. That is the outcome of the civil trial; it should not be described as a criminal acquittal or as a finding that the allegations were fabricated. Was the verdict appealed?
After the verdict, LeMaistre’s attorney, Michael J. Willemin, said the plaintiff’s side was disappointed and believed the verdict would be overturned on appeal: “We are disappointed in the outcome but are proud to represent Ms. LeMaistre and believe that the verdict will ultimately be overturned on appeal.” That statement expressed counsel’s view; it does not confirm that an appeal was filed or succeeded. A civil lawsuit asks a jury to decide civil liability; criminal prosecution is a separate process. The civil verdict reported here was that Wayne was not liable for sexual assault and battery. The Washington Post’s report that no criminal charges were brought over these allegations describes the criminal-prosecution status, not a criminal-trial verdict.
