Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter won Album of the Year
The Associated Press included Beyoncé’s Album of the Year win for Cowboy Carter among its notable moments of 2025. The award made the album a defining point in the year’s music conversation, beyond its release as a record.
Kendrick Lamar turned the Super Bowl halftime show into a talking point
Lamar headlined the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. The Associated Press highlighted the performance, while ELLE also pointed to his outfit as part of the game-day conversation—a reminder that the halftime spectacle resonated as both a musical event and a visual one.
Lady Gaga returned to Coachella
ELLE singled out Lady Gaga’s Coachella performance as a major comeback moment. Separately, Spotify’s December 3, 2025 Wrapped report named Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” its top global song for the year, with over 1.7 billion streams on Spotify. That is a platform-specific listening measure, not a count across all services.

The animated film’s soundtrack made the clearest leap between screen and music in the moments covered by these year-end sources. Spotify ranked it No. 2 among global albums on its 2025 Wrapped list. TIME reported that three soundtrack singles reached the Billboard Top 10, making it the first film soundtrack to do so since Waiting to Exhale in 1995.
TIME also reported that “Golden” spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was the first girl-group song to achieve that run, surpassing the two-week record previously held by Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious.” These are specific chart milestones, not a universal measure of the film’s cultural reach.

How to read a year-end pop culture list
There is no single, settled ranking of the moments that mattered most to every audience in every country. The Associated Press and ELLE offer curated examples; Spotify’s stream totals apply to Spotify; and TIME’s account of KPop Demon Hunters discusses particular Billboard chart outcomes. Those sources capture different kinds of evidence, so a platform statistic should not be treated as a verdict on cultural importance, and editorial attention should not be mistaken for a comparable audience metric.
