Allison Holker has spoken publicly about trauma after her husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, died by suicide in December 2022, and about encouraging people facing similar pain to seek help. That account comes from a summary of a January 2025 PEOPLE cover story; the interview page itself was not available to verify further details. The available record does not establish what treatment Holker pursued, whether she had a therapist, or any diagnosis.
What Holker said about seeking help
A summary of PEOPLE’s January 2025 cover story reports that Holker described trauma following Boss’ death and encouraged others experiencing similar pain to seek help. Because the underlying interview could not be accessed, that is the limit of what can be stated about her remarks here. It would be inaccurate to infer from the summary that she described a particular kind of care or a specific recovery process. Yahoo Lifestyle
Her account of returning to dance was personal, not a timetable
In a January 16, 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Holker said she did not dance for almost five months after Boss’ death. When she felt ready, she danced with her friend Brittany Russell. Holker described that experience as healing and said movement helped her family express emotion. That is her account of what helped her and her children; it is not a recommendation that dance replaces counseling or that grieving people should resume activities on a set schedule. When professional support may help
Grief does not follow one schedule, and people respond to loss differently. Lisa Clark, a psychologist and bereavement coordinator at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, says, “There is no wrong time to seek help.” She explains that therapy can help people cope with the stressors of loss and manage distressing symptoms. Clark also says professional help is crucial if symptoms have not improved or have worsened after more than six months; that is her guidance, not a universal diagnostic threshold.

Holker’s memoir is titled This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light. In February 2025, CBS News reported on an interview with Boss’ mother, Connie Boss Alexander, and brother, Dre Rose, who expressed disagreement or different recollections about some disclosures associated with the book. Those are attributed family viewpoints; the report documents a public disagreement, not an independent resolution of disputed private events. CBS News
