The image reportedly showed Harry walking hand-in-hand with Prince Archie while Princess Lilibet sat on his shoulders. The timing led People to describe the post as a possible show of solidarity, but Meghan has not publicly confirmed that interpretation in the sources available.
What the photo reportedly showed
People reported that the image showed Harry from behind with Archie beside him and Lilibet on his shoulders, apparently in the garden of the family’s Montecito home. The outlet described the image as black-and-white and captionless. Its account of the post is the basis for these details; the available reporting does not independently authenticate the original Instagram post or establish whether it remains available.
People characterized the timing and image as a “subtle statement” of solidarity. That is an interpretation by the outlet, not a confirmed explanation from Meghan. No direct statement from her explaining why she shared the image was identified in the available coverage.
Why the post attracted attention
The reported post came on May 3, 2025, the day after the Court of Appeal rejected Harry’s challenge concerning the protective-security arrangements applied to him during UK visits. People published its report about the photo on May 4. The sequence makes the connection a plausible news framing, but timing alone does not establish Meghan’s purpose.

What the court decided
In Duke of Sussex v Secretary of State for the Home Department, the Court of Appeal issued its judgment on May 2, 2025. The appeal hearing had taken place on April 8 and 9. The legal question concerned whether the decision-maker followed RAVEC’s terms of reference without good reason. The court rejected Harry’s challenge; its judgment addressed the security decision, not the family photo or Meghan’s social-media choices. Read the official judgment and the court hearing record.

BBC News reported on Harry’s response to the outcome and his comments about its implications for his family. Those remarks were his account of the ruling’s practical effects, not findings by the court. People also quoted his post-ruling statement: “I remain committed to a life of public service.”
