Retrospective accounts describe a post-apocalyptic theme and place Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank among the group. The party sits close in time to the relationship becoming public, but the available accounts do not establish that the night caused that change.
What happened at the Halloween party?
Harry later recounted the Toronto outing in his memoir Spare; reports about his account describe it as a post-apocalyptic-themed party. Meghan also recalled a costumed night out in Toronto during a later televised interview about the early days of their relationship. These are retrospective accounts, rather than a complete independent record of every detail of the evening. Marie Claire’s retrospective account, ITV News’ report on Meghan’s interview, and Us Weekly’s coverage of Harry’s memoir connect the party with the couple’s early relationship.
Reports also name Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank as part of the party group. The accounts support the broad outline—a private relationship, a Halloween gathering in Toronto, and a post-apocalyptic theme—but details of the night depend on recollections reported later.
Was this when their relationship became public?
The party took place near the end of October 2016, around the period when news of Harry and Meghan’s relationship became public. The Guardian’s 2016 report documents the public attention surrounding the relationship. That chronology puts the Halloween outing near a turning point in public awareness; it does not show that the party itself exposed the relationship or changed it.
