Megamind Vs. The Doom Syndicate and the animated series Megamind Rules! were announced together as Peacock releases, with both given a March 1, 2024 premiere date. Peacock named Keith Ferguson among the new voice cast, while the two projects tell different stories: one sends Megamind up against a returning villain team, and the other follows his first steps as a superhero.
What did the trailer announcement reveal?
Peacock announced the film and series on February 1, 2024, and said both would premiere exclusively on Peacock on March 1, 2024. That is the announced 2024 launch date, not a claim that either title is a new or upcoming release now. Peacock’s announcement introduced the two projects as distinct continuations of the franchise.

How are the movie and series different?
| Title | Format | Story | Connection to the 2010 film |
|---|---|---|---|
| Megamind Vs. The Doom Syndicate | Animated sequel film | The Doom Syndicate returns, and Megamind gathers Roxanne, Ol’ Chum, and Keiko to stop its plan to launch Metro City to the moon. DreamWorks’ film page gives the same central setup. | Follows the events of Megamind (2010). |
| Megamind Rules! | Animated series | Newly crowned as a superhero, Megamind learns the job while his brainbots record his experiences. Peacock pitched him as “the world’s first superhero influencer.” | Continues the character’s change from supervillain to superhero; it is not the sequel film. |
DreamWorks also describes the series as a story about Megamind adjusting to superhero life and becoming an influencer through the brainbots’ recordings. See the official series page.
Who voices Megamind in the new projects?
Peacock’s announcement names Keith Ferguson among the cast for both titles. Its announcement spells his surname “Furguson” once, so this article uses the spelling Keith Ferguson rather than repeating the apparent typo. The announcement does not provide a statement from Ferguson about taking over the role, and the available information here is not enough to establish a complete cast roster.

The original 2010 film’s Peacock catalog listing names Will Ferrell among its cast. That establishes a difference between the listed casts of the original and the new productions, but does not by itself establish the reason for the casting change. Peacock’s original-film listing identifies the 2010 title and gives its runtime as 1 hour 35 minutes.

Peacock and DreamWorks identified Peacock as the destination for the 2024 releases. The announcement described the launch as exclusive to Peacock, but that historical announcement is not a guarantee of current catalog availability. Peacock’s film catalog page returned a notice that the service requires a device physically located in the United States and is not available in other territories. This access notice does not establish present availability in every market. Peacock’s film page lists the movie as 1 hour 25 minutes long.
