The new performers join returning leads Kristen Bell as Joanne and Adam Brody as Noah Roklov. Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix; its original release date was October 23, 2025.
The six new Season 2 guest stars
Leighton Meester as Abby
Leighton Meester plays Abby, Joanne’s former middle-school nemesis. Abby is now an Instagram mommy influencer, giving Joanne’s past a direct connection to her present life.
#1 Best Overall
Meester’s casting also creates an offscreen reunion with Adam Brody, who plays Noah: Meester and Brody are married in real life. That connection is a behind-the-scenes detail, not part of the show’s fictional relationship between Joanne and Noah.
Miles Fowler as Lenny
Miles Fowler plays Lenny, one of Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammates. Joanne and Noah try to set Lenny up with Morgan, but Morgan initially rejects him.
Netflix presents Lenny as confident and emotionally direct, qualities that contrast with Morgan’s more defensive approach to romance. His storyline is therefore tied not only to the show’s matchmaking comedy but also to Morgan’s larger Season 2 arc.
Alex Karpovsky as Big Noah
Alex Karpovsky plays Big Noah, an overly confident rabbi at Noah’s temple. The “Big Noah” name distinguishes Karpovsky’s recurring guest character from Brody’s character, Noah Roklov.
Viewers should not read the two names as referring to the same person. Big Noah is a separate rabbi in Noah’s professional and religious world.

Arian Moayed as Dr. Andy
Arian Moayed plays Dr. Andy, a charming and highly regarded psychotherapist—particularly in his own estimation. He becomes an unexpected romantic match for Morgan, played by Justine Lupe.
Dr. Andy’s arrival places Morgan’s dating life at the center of one of the season’s expanded supporting-character stories. Her relationship with him develops alongside her uncertainty about being alone while her sister has found a romantic partner.
Seth Rogen: character not publicly named by Netflix
Seth Rogen is one of the new Season 2 guest stars announced by Netflix on September 18, 2025. However, that official announcement did not name his character or provide a detailed role description.
Until Netflix or an episode-level credit identifies the part, it is more accurate to list Rogen simply as a new guest star rather than attach an unverified character name to him.
Kate Berlant: character not publicly named by Netflix
Kate Berlant was announced alongside Rogen as another new Season 2 guest star. Netflix confirmed her casting and highlighted the creative team’s enthusiasm for the shared energy Rogen and Berlant bring to the series, but did not identify Berlant’s character in the announcement.
As with Rogen, no named role should be assigned to Berlant without a separately verified official cast listing or episode credit.
Returning cast members in Season 2
| Actor | Character | Season 2 position |
|---|---|---|
| Kristen Bell | Joanne | Returning lead |
| Adam Brody | Noah Roklov | Returning lead |
| Justine Lupe | Morgan | Returning cast member with a larger personal storyline |
| Timothy Simons | Sasha | Returning cast member with greater ensemble focus |
| Jackie Tohn | Esther | Returning performer whose role is expanded |
| Michael Hitchcock | Henry | Returning supporting cast |
| Stephanie Faracy | Lynne | Returning supporting cast |
| Paul Ben-Victor | Ilan | Returning supporting cast |
| Tovah Feldshuh | Bina | Returning supporting cast |
| Sherry Cola | Ashley | Returning supporting cast |
| D’Arcy Carden | Ryann | Returning supporting cast |
Jackie Tohn is not a new Season 2 cast member, but Esther receives a more prominent position in the season. Netflix’s coverage also places greater emphasis on Sasha, Morgan, and Esther, moving them beyond the role of comic sidekicks and further into the show’s personal and romantic storylines.

How the new cast fits into Season 2
The central premise remains the relationship between Joanne, an agnostic sex podcaster, and Noah, a newly single rabbi. Season 2 shifts attention from the couple’s initial attraction to the practical difficulties of sustaining a relationship.
That change gives the new guest stars several different functions. Abby connects Joanne’s current life to her school past. Lenny enters through Noah’s social circle and the attempt to match him with Morgan. Big Noah expands the temple setting, while Dr. Andy becomes part of Morgan’s romantic storyline. Rogen and Berlant are confirmed additions, but their narrative roles remain unidentified in Netflix’s public announcement.
Morgan’s storyline is particularly important to the expanded ensemble. After initially rejecting Lenny, she becomes involved with Dr. Andy while confronting an identity crisis about being alone as her sister enters a romantic relationship. The season consequently treats Morgan’s choices as a story in their own right rather than merely as a subplot supporting Joanne and Noah.
