Kylie Cantrall as Red
Kylie Cantrall plays Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts and the film’s rebellious new lead. Red does not want to spend her life obeying her mother or accepting a predetermined identity. Her attempt to control her own future brings her to Auradon, where she becomes involved with a magical pocket watch and a mission through time.
Red is initially an outsider in the Auradon setting. Her conflict with her mother gives the story its emotional starting point, while her unlikely alliance with Chloe becomes the film’s central relationship.

Malia Baker as Chloe
Malia Baker plays Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella and King Charming. Chloe is a perfectionist, a high-achieving student, and captain of the Swords and Shields fencing team. She also helps lead the Dragon Appreciation Club.
Chloe appears to be Red’s opposite: disciplined where Red is rebellious and closely connected to Auradon’s royal order. The two nevertheless have a shared reason to challenge what seems inevitable. Their partnership drives the time-travel plot and gives the film its two-person point of view.
Brandy as Cinderella
Brandy plays Cinderella, Chloe’s mother and one of Auradon’s reigning royals. The casting adds a significant piece of Cinderella history: Brandy reunites with Paolo Montalban, who plays King Charming. The two previously portrayed the romantic leads in the 1997 television film Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
Here, Brandy’s Cinderella is part of the established Auradon royal family and the parent of the new generation represented by Chloe.

Rita Ora plays the Queen of Hearts, Red’s mother and the ruler of Wonderland. The Queen’s hostility toward Auradon and Cinderella leads to the coup that sets the story in motion.
She is presented as a domineering ruler who would rather be feared than loved. The film’s time-travel premise asks whether the past can be changed—and whether understanding the younger person behind a villain can prevent that villainous path from forming.
China Anne McClain as Uma
China Anne McClain returns as Uma, Ursula’s daughter and a familiar face from the earlier Descendants films. Uma has moved beyond her former identity as a Villain Kid and is now headmaster of Auradon Prep.
Uma’s invitation brings Red into the Auradon school environment, connecting the new story to the franchise’s earlier conflicts between the children of heroes and villains.

The younger generation at Merlin Academy
A substantial part of the film’s story takes place around an earlier generation of characters. These roles should not be confused with the older versions or legacy figures known from previous Descendants stories.
Dara Reneé as Uliana
Dara Reneé plays Uliana, Ursula’s younger sister. Uliana is a sea witch and Merlin Academy’s leading bully, placing her at the center of the earlier villain-kid storyline.
Ruby Rose Turner as Bridget
Ruby Rose Turner plays Bridget, a friendly and optimistic character who is also an accomplished baker. Disney’s character materials connect Bridget with the younger Queen of Hearts, making the role especially important to the film’s exploration of Red’s family history.
Morgan Dudley as Ella
Morgan Dudley plays Ella, the younger Cinderella. She is courageous and kind despite being mistreated by her Evil Stepmother. Ella is willing to work hard and challenge unfair circumstances rather than simply accept them.
Joshua Colley as Hook
Joshua Colley plays Hook, Captain of the Seas and Uliana’s right-hand man. Hook is one of the Villain Kids connected with the Isle of the Lost and Merlin Academy.
Peder Lindell as Morgie
Peder Lindell plays Morgie, a Villain Kid who can manipulate dark magic. He is identified as the son of the enchantress Morgana le Fay. Disney’s official fact sheet spells the character’s name “Morgie”; that spelling is preferable to a variation appearing in some secondary character material.
Grace Narducci as Fay
Grace Narducci plays Fay, identified in Disney’s official cast materials as the younger Fairy Godmother. The role places a younger version of another familiar magical figure within the film’s earlier timeline.
Other important cast members
Paolo Montalban as King Charming
Paolo Montalban plays King Charming, Cinderella’s devoted husband and Chloe’s father. His reunion with Brandy is one of the film’s most notable pieces of casting history, especially for viewers familiar with their 1997 Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella collaboration.

Additional characters and appearances
Disney’s character materials also mention Hades, Maleficent, and Meadow among the figures viewers may encounter or recognize. Those references provide useful context for the film’s broader franchise connections, but they should not be treated as a complete, separately confirmed cast-credit list for every performer appearing in promotional or supporting material.

What is Descendants: The Rise of Red about?
The fourth film in Disney’s Descendants franchise shifts attention to Red and Chloe. Red is the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, while Chloe is Cinderella’s daughter. Their mothers’ opposing histories place the girls on different sides of Auradon’s political and magical conflicts.
After the Queen of Hearts stages a coup against Auradon, Red and Chloe join forces. Using a magical pocket watch, they travel into the past to try to change the event that shaped the Queen of Hearts’ villainous path. The premise allows the film to introduce younger versions of several familiar characters while expanding the franchise’s mythology beyond the original Villain Kids.

The music of Rise of Red
Music is central to the film rather than a background element. The soundtrack includes seven new original songs, along with reprises of “What’s My Name” from Descendants 2 and “So This Is Love” from Cinderella. It also includes a soundtrack score suite.
Disney’s soundtrack materials additionally identified a Music from Descendants vinyl album. Because stock and retailer availability can change, readers interested in a physical soundtrack should verify current listings rather than assume the vinyl remains available.
For younger fans: the official tie-in novel
Readers aged roughly 8–12 can continue the story with the Descendants: The Rise of Red Junior Novel by Kelsey Rodkey. Disney Books describes the official 144-page adaptation as including an eight-page color photo insert. It is a natural companion for children who want a print version of Red and Chloe’s adventure.
A broader option is Descendants: The World of Auradon: Royals and Villains, a Disney Books guide covering the worlds of Auradon, Wonderland, and the Isle of the Lost. It is more useful as a franchise reference than as a direct substitute for the film’s junior novel.
