Jacob Elordi plays Frankenstein’s Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, and Netflix’s Oct. 17, 2025 trailer puts the character—not his creator—at the center. It follows the Creature’s origins, pursuit of Victor Frankenstein and turn toward rage. Netflix announced the film for Nov. 7, 2025; availability can vary by region.
Who is Jacob Elordi in Frankenstein?
Elordi plays the Creature, often called Frankenstein’s monster, while Oscar Isaac plays Victor Frankenstein, the scientist who made him. Netflix Tudum’s Oct. 17 trailer coverage describes this version of the Creature as patchwork, with origins in bodies recovered from a Crimean War battlefield. Guillermo del Toro characterizes him as a resurrected soldier from a mass grave. Those details describe del Toro’s film, not Mary Shelley’s original novel.
The trailer gives Elordi’s character a chance to tell his side of the story. He says, “My maker told his tale,” followed by, “And I will tell you mine.” That shift in perspective is the trailer’s central idea: the Creature is not only a creation to be feared, but a character with his own account of what happened.
What is the new Frankenstein trailer about?
The footage follows the Creature as he pursues his maker, moves through gunfire and attacks a grounded ship. Its imagery presents him as both a force of violence and a being reacting to rejection. “If you are not to award me love,” he says, “then I will indulge in rage.”

Tudum also reports that Elordi drew on butoh, a form of Japanese dance-theater, and the movement of his golden retriever while developing the performance. The resulting character is framed through physicality as well as dialogue, rather than solely through the familiar image of a lumbering monster.
How is this different from the earlier teaser?
Netflix promoted two separate videos in fall 2025. The Sept. 30 teaser introduced the adaptation with Victor Frankenstein and Isaac in focus; the Oct. 17 trailer shifts attention to the Creature and Elordi, revealing more of his background and motivation.
