Maria: Sara Lownds’s daughter, adopted by Dylan
Maria was born to Lownds in an earlier marriage. Biography.com says Dylan adopted her, distinguishing her story from that of Jesse, Anna, Sam, and Jakob, whom it identifies as Dylan and Lownds’s children. The Pulitzer biography lists Maria among the children associated with Lownds, but does not explain the adoption.
Jesse, Anna, Sam, and Jakob: children of Dylan and Sara Lownds
The Pulitzer Prize biography lists Jakob, Jesse, Samuel, Anna, and Maria in its account of Dylan’s marriage to Sara Lownds. Biography.com clarifies that Maria was adopted and identifies Jesse, Anna, Samuel, and Jakob as the couple’s children. It names Jakob as the lead singer of the Wallflowers; the sources cited here do not establish comparable public career descriptions for the other siblings.

Desiree: Dylan and Carolyn Dennis’s daughter
The Pulitzer Prize biography records Dylan’s marriage to Carolyn Y. Dennis and identifies Desiree Gabrielle as their child. Biography.com says Desiree was born five months before their June 1986 wedding and that the marriage and child became public with Howard Sounes’s 2001 Dylan biography.
Biography.com quotes Dennis responding to the portrayal of Dylan as concealing his daughter: “To portray Bob as ‘hiding his daughter’ is just malicious and ridiculous,” she said. “That is something he would never do. Bob has been a wonderful, active father to Desiree.” This is Dennis’s characterization, not an independent account of every aspect of the family’s private life.

Dennis on June 4, 1986, and they divorced in October 1992. Its entry cites Marquis Who’s Who (2008) as its underlying biographical source.
