Matthew Modine did officiate Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi’s wedding—but the original announcement’s “will officiate” wording is now outdated. After the couple’s private marriage ceremony in May 2024, they held a second wedding in Tuscany in September. ABC reported that Modine officiated the Tuscany ceremony.
What Matthew Modine said about officiating
Before the weddings took place, Modine told Access Daily that Brown and Bongiovi had asked him to officiate. He said he had a license to marry people and that he wrote vows for the couple, who liked what he wrote. Modine described the vows as joining hands and becoming husband and wife.
The report does not publish the complete vows, so their full wording is not publicly established there.
Two wedding dates explain the timeline

Modine’s recollection of the Tuscany ceremony
In ABC’s account, Modine called the wedding “absolutely sublime” and said, “I was surprised how emotional I became during the vows.” His comments connect the role he had discussed earlier with the ceremony that later took place in Tuscany.
Other reported ceremony details
The Knot reported that Brown wore a custom Galia Lahav ANAIS gown and that the ceremony included a white floral arch. Those details come from that outlet’s wedding coverage, separate from Modine’s remarks about writing the vows.
