Yes. Matthew Perry was included in the In Memoriam segment at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards. The ceremony is often called the 2023 Emmy Awards, but it was held on January 15, 2024, after a delay.
Why the 2023 Emmys took place in 2024
The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards recognized television programming and individual achievement from the 2022–2023 season. The ceremony was postponed from its originally scheduled 2023 date and took place on January 15, 2024, live from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Fox broadcast the ceremony, hosted by Anthony Anderson. The Television Academy’s announcement identifies the event as the 75th Emmy Awards and describes the season it honored.
How the tribute honored Perry
The Television Academy says Charlie Puth and the husband-and-wife duo The War and Treaty performed “See You Again” and “I’ll Be There for You,” the Friends theme song, during the Primetime ceremony’s In Memoriam segment. The Academy had announced the performers ahead of the event in its January 12 preview.
Perry was best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, according to his Television Academy biography. The choice of the show’s theme song connected the performance to the role for which many viewers remember him. The Academy also records Emmy nominations for Perry’s performances in The West Wing and The Ron Clark Story; its awards and nominations record lists those credits.

The Emmy Awards and the Creative Arts Emmy Awards have separate ceremonies, and the Television Academy says both include In Memoriam videos. Perry’s inclusion is confirmed for the 75th Primetime Emmy segment; the cited announcement does not provide a complete itemized list of everyone shown. The Academy’s 2023 In Memoriam page describes the recurring feature across the ceremonies.
