What is “Claws” about?

The episode’s two storylines center on a class-action case against the prison system and Matty’s efforts to investigate the firm from within. CBS’s synopsis says the case hits close to home for Matty when its lead plaintiff, jailed on drug charges, relapses; it also notes that Matty tries to set Sarah up with someone from IT. The 10 biggest moments and reveals

1. Edwin tries to access Olympia’s email

Matty’s separate investigation continues when Edwin attempts to get into Olympia’s email. His improvised cover story to an IT worker does not work, leaving the investigation without the access he wanted.

2. Katya relapses, putting the case in danger

Matty notices that Katya, the class-action’s lead plaintiff, has relapsed and alerts Olympia. Because Katya is central to the case against the prison system, her condition immediately creates a serious problem for the legal team.

3. A replacement plaintiff backs away

The team considers whether another woman can step in as plaintiff. Tiffany refuses after learning about Katya’s relapse, making clear that replacing the lead plaintiff will not be a simple fix.

4. Reluctant witnesses raise Matty’s suspicions

Potential witnesses are reluctant to testify. Matty suspects the resistance is not coincidental and begins to think someone has pressured Katya and other women connected to the case.

5. A salon encounter points toward a prison employee

Olympia connects a prison employee to an encounter at a salon. The team looks for security footage, and salon owner Sonia helps Matty pursue the lead.

7. Footage identifies Mrs. Caruso as the instigator

The security footage helps identify Mrs. Caruso, a prison employee, as the person who provoked Katya in hopes of triggering a relapse and weakening the claim. That reveal gives Matty’s suspicions about pressure on the witnesses a concrete explanation.

8. The prison settles, and Katya agrees to rehab

The prison case resolves in a settlement. TV Grapevine reports that each woman receives two million dollars and that Katya is going to rehab; these are plot details reported in its recap, not real-world figures. TV Grapevine’s recap

9. Matty matches Sarah with Kira

In the personal subplot, Matty sets Sarah up with Kira, who works in IT. Billy helps Sarah get started with online dating, while Matty also encourages him to propose to Claudia.

10. A fingerprint gets Matty into the server room

Matty spills medication and uses Kira’s fingerprint on a phone to gain access to the server room. The move keeps her separate investigation alive beyond the courtroom resolution. The recap also reports that Olympia tells Julian she wants to prioritize the children. TV Grapevine’s recap

What the ending means for the story

The class-action plot closes with a settlement after Matty helps bring the effort to undermine Katya to light. But the episode does not resolve Matty’s investigation into the firm: her access to the server room is a continuing-plot hook. Olympia’s stated desire to prioritize her children adds a separate personal thread. The detailed ending beats, including the reported settlement amount and Mrs. Caruso’s motive, are described in TV Grapevine’s recap rather than CBS’s brief episode synopsis.
