The official trailer followed on November 11, 2025. It confirmed the film’s December 25 U.S. theatrical release and offered a fuller look at Marty Mauser’s pursuit of success. The two videos should be treated separately: the August release is the official teaser, while the November release is the official trailer. Both were issued through A24’s official channels.
What is “Marty Supreme” about?
“Marty Supreme” follows Marty Mauser, a young man whose dream of becoming great at table tennis is repeatedly disregarded. A24’s official synopsis describes his journey as taking him “to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.” That wording points to a story about obsession and self-invention rather than a straightforward sports success story.
Josh Safdie’s filmmaking is associated with anxious momentum, morally complicated characters, and people willing to take extreme risks to get ahead. “Marty Supreme” brings that sensibility to a highly specific competitive world: the hustling, betting, performance, and social ambition surrounding table tennis.
Readers should not confuse Marty Mauser with Marty Reisman. Reisman is the real athlete who helped inspire the project, while Mauser is the film’s fictional protagonist.

Is “Marty Supreme” a Marty Reisman biopic?
No. “Marty Supreme” is best described as a fictionalized story inspired by Marty Reisman, not as a direct biopic.
Reisman was a celebrated professional table-tennis player known for hustling in Manhattan, competing for bets and prize money, and collecting major titles during a long career. Those elements help explain the film’s unusual subject and its interest in table tennis as both a sport and a way to navigate the city. However, the screenplay creates Marty Mauser and should not be read as a factual account of Reisman’s life.

Table-tennis products and official “Marty Supreme” merchandise
The sport is not a decorative detail in “Marty Supreme”; it is the basis of Marty Mauser’s ambition. Readers who want to try the game can start with table tennis balls, while remembering that generic equipment is not automatically official film merchandise.
A24’s shop lists official Marty Supreme Championship Table Tennis Balls for $18. The shop also lists a “Marty Supreme” Blu-ray in the $30–$40 range and an original motion-picture soundtrack by Daniel Lopatin on black and clear vinyl for $40, with a poster included. Those prices and products come from A24’s shop listing and can change.
A24 has also listed a “Marty Supreme” collaboration with JOOLA: a table-tennis table priced at $850. The collection page marks that table as sold out, so it is better regarded as a collector or future-restock item than as a currently dependable purchase.
The existence of an A24 Shop product does not establish that the same item is currently available on Amazon. Buyers looking for the Blu-ray or soundtrack should verify the exact edition, seller, stock status, and current price before purchasing through a marketplace.

A24’s AAA24 membership is a broader membership program rather than a “Marty Supreme” product. A24 says membership can include movie tickets, monthly credits, a 10% shop discount, a zine subscription, and other benefits. Whether membership is worthwhile depends on how often a reader uses A24’s cinema and shop offerings; it should not be treated as necessary to watch the film.

Most sports movies use a familiar framework: an athlete faces a setback, finds discipline, and competes for a decisive victory. “Marty Supreme” takes a less conventional route by placing a Safdie-style antihero in the world of table tennis. The result is a film whose appeal rests on the tension between an apparently niche sport and a larger, more combustible story about status, money, and recognition.

The Marty Reisman connection gives the premise a real historical foothold, but the fictionalization matters. It gives Safdie and Bronstein room to build an original character and a heightened narrative instead of promising a reliable chronology of Reisman’s career. That distinction is important for viewers searching for either a sports drama or a documentary-style account of a real player: “Marty Supreme” is the former, not the latter.
