According to reports of her account, a neurosurgeon later reviewed the images and said there was no cyst; the specialist reportedly described two calcium deposits and an unusually shaped artery as not concerning. A possible pinched nerve in her neck was offered as a suspected explanation, not a confirmed diagnosis.
What happened to Martha Kalifatidis?
In reports published May 30, 2024, Kalifatidis said she developed a migraine after Australian Fashion Week that continued for several days. Her partner and mother encouraged her to seek medical care. Her GP sent her for a CT scan because the symptoms had lasted so long, according to PerthNow and Marie Claire Australia.
Kalifatidis described the experience as “the worst week of my life,” and, in PerthNow’s account of her TikTok post, “the darkest, most scariest time of my life.” These quotations were reported by the outlets relaying her account.
Did the specialist confirm a colloid cyst?
No. The initial scan interpretation reportedly raised the possibility of a colloid cyst, prompting further imaging and review by a neurosurgeon. The later specialist review reportedly found no colloid cyst. The reports say the images showed two calcium deposits and an unusually shaped artery, which the neurosurgeon described as not concerning. PerthNow reported Kalifatidis saying, “I don’t have a colloid cyst, I’m perfectly healthy.”

What was thought to be causing the migraines?
The neurosurgeon reportedly suspected a pinched nerve in Kalifatidis’s neck might be contributing to her migraines. This was reported as a possible explanation for her case, not a confirmed diagnosis and not a basis for identifying the cause of someone else’s headache.

A later 2024 update from Nine / 9Now said she was still experiencing migraines and seeking help, with symptoms lasting for weeks. That report is a dated update, not evidence of her condition now.
