Marlon Brando’s will acknowledged 11 children: ten who were living when the will was reported in 2004, and his daughter Cheyenne, who had died in 1995. The count is tied to the will; it should not be read as a ruling on every later paternity claim. The children came from several family branches, and some were adopted.
Who were Marlon Brando’s 11 children?
The names reported in connection with the will were Christian, Miko, Rebecca, Simon Teihotu, Cheyenne, Ninna Priscilla, Myles Jonathan, Timothy Gahan, Petra, Maimiti, and Raiatua Brando. The Associated Press listed ten living children in its 2004 report; El Universo reported that the will also recognized Cheyenne, who had died.
Children by family branch
With Anna Kashfi
- Christian Brando was reported as the son of Brando and Anna Kashfi.
With Movita Castaneda
- Miko Brando and Rebecca Brando were reported as the children of Brando and Movita Castaneda.
With Tarita Teriipaia
- Simon Teihotu Brando and Cheyenne Brando were their children. Cheyenne died in 1995.
- Maimiti and Raiatua appear among the children acknowledged in reports about the will. Some later accounts describe them as adopted daughters from Tarita’s family, but the available contemporaneous reporting does not establish that relationship as clearly as it establishes the names on the will-based list.
With Maria Christina Ruiz
- Ninna Priscilla Brando, Myles Jonathan Brando, and Timothy Gahan Brando were reported as their children.
Adopted daughter
- Petra Brando was adopted by Brando in 1984. The Los Angeles Times identified her birth mother as Caroline Barrett, Brando’s assistant.
Why accounts of Brando’s children can differ
The 11-name count is best understood as the children acknowledged in reporting on Brando’s will, not a complete resolution of every claim about his paternity. The Associated Press and El Universo reports from 2004 are the clearest basis for the count. Obituaries from The Independent and the Los Angeles Times add family context, while the latter notes that documenting Brando’s heirs was difficult. The sources do not establish every family relationship with equal certainty.
For that reason, a list of names and a list of confirmed biological relationships are not interchangeable. The will-based count includes adopted children, and later paternity allegations should not be treated as established simply because they appear in a broader account of Brando’s family.
