What PEOPLE reported about Maria Taylor’s baby
PEOPLE reported that Roman was born at 7:26 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2023. The report gave his weight as 8 pounds 13 ounces and his length as 21 inches. These birth details are attributed to PEOPLE’s account.
Taylor told PEOPLE, “My journey to motherhood has not been a straight line. It has been long and difficult, and there were several times I thought I would never become a mom.” She added, “But when my son was placed on my chest, our hearts were overwhelmed with love and gratitude,” and, “I immediately knew I had given birth to my soulmate.” These are Taylor’s personal words as quoted in the report, not a description of any specific medical history.

When Taylor announced her pregnancy
PEOPLE’s report says Taylor shared her pregnancy news on Instagram in July 2023 and posted about her pregnancy in the months that followed. On Dec. 17, NBC Sports published a video in which colleagues wished her well as she prepared for motherhood and the birth of her first son. The video came one week before the reported birth.

Maria Taylor’s work and later family context
NBC Sports identifies Taylor as a host and producer and lists her presenting work in its official biography. In a separate account published March 27, 2026, NBA.com quoted Taylor discussing travel with her then-two-year-old son in connection with work. That later conversation is distinct from the 2023 birth announcement.
