CNA’s account of the incident and sentencing and The Straits Times’ court report describe the same sequence.
Who was Johnson Wen, and what was he charged with?
News reports identified Wen as a 26-year-old Australian. He pleaded guilty to one charge of public nuisance. The reports describe no separate assault conviction, so the case should not be characterized as one.

ABC News Australia’s report also identifies Wen and confirms the guilty plea and jail sentence.
What sentence did he receive?
District Judge Christopher Goh sentenced Wen to nine days’ jail on Nov. 17, 2025. CNA and The Straits Times reported that the judge considered the conduct premeditated and took account of the potential public-safety danger if breaching the barrier caused panic. The reports state that the offence carries a maximum penalty of three months’ jail, a S$2,000 fine, or both; that is the reported statutory maximum, not the sentence imposed in this case.

CNA quoted the judge as telling Wen: “Mr Wen, you are wrong. You should be mindful that there are always consequences for one’s actions.”

Sentencing coverage referred to Wen’s prior disruptions at high-profile events as prosecution or court context. Those references do not establish that he was convicted of those incidents in Singapore.
