WWE dates Eddie Guerrero’s formation of the faction to the October 5, 1998 episode of Nitro. Its official description frames the segment as Guerrero reacting to WCW politics and forming a faction of luchadors. The available official record establishes the group’s origin and names several members, but it does not document a complete roster or a full account of the group’s later history.
What was the Latino World Order?
The Latino World Order was a WCW faction led by Eddie Guerrero and associated with a group of luchadors. WWE’s video listing for the formation segment says: “Eddie Guerrero gets fed up with the politics in WCW and forms his own faction of Luchadors.” That is WWE’s promotional description of the segment, not a verified quotation spoken by Guerrero.
The faction’s name and concept made it a distinct group within WCW’s wrestling world. The official material cited here supports that basic description, but does not provide enough detail to reconstruct every storyline motive or backstage decision behind its creation.
When did the LWO begin?
WWE identifies the formation segment as airing on October 5, 1998, on Nitro. Its official listing is titled “Eddie Guerrero forms the Latino World Order: Nitro, October 5, 1998”. That date is the clearest documented starting point for the faction.

Who was in the LWO?
WWE Shop describes Guerrero as the original leader and names Rey Mysterio Jr., Juventud Guerrera, and Psychosis among the original members. Those names establish several prominent members, not an exhaustive roster: the shop description does not list every member or give dates for when wrestlers joined.
Rey Mysterio’s WCW career provides useful context for his place in the promotion. WWE’s history of WCW says Mysterio debuted there in 1996 and won the WCW Cruiserweight Championship less than a month later. WWE’s broader history places his WWE debut in July 2002. Those milestones locate his career across the two promotions; they do not by themselves establish the complete LWO membership timeline.

Why was WCW the setting?
The LWO formed during WCW’s competition with WWE. WWE’s corporate history says WCW launched in 1988 and that Nitro led Raw in ratings for 84 consecutive weeks, from May 1996 to March 1998. WWE also says it acquired WCW in 2001. These facts explain the broader promotional setting, but they should not be mistaken for a direct explanation of every creative choice in the LWO storyline.

WWE’s pages cited here establish the WCW formation date, identify several original members, and provide company and career context. They do not provide a sufficiently detailed chronology of the faction’s dissolution or any later WWE revival, including the timing, changing membership, or status of a modern version. A complete account of those events would require additional documentation; the available sources do not support filling in those details as fact.

WWE Shop currently maintains an LWO merchandise category. Its existence shows that LWO-branded apparel is offered through the official shop, but does not establish the faction’s historical timeline or guarantee that a particular item is available at any given time.
