What the memoir is about

The publisher presents the book as a coming-of-age memoir rooted in Gage’s upbringing in San Diego and his family life. It also addresses addiction, sex, borderline personality disorder, attention-seeking, and the path into acting.

In an interview published by Vogue on October 6, 2025, Gage said family was the book’s underlying theme, with entertainment and acting occupying only a small part of it. He also connected the memoir to accountability, mental health, addiction, and his effort to humanize his brother. Read the Vogue interview for his account of the book’s intentions.

Kirkus Reviews characterized the memoir as a raw but uneven account of a troubled youth and a rising Hollywood career. That is the publication’s critical assessment, not a neutral description. See the Kirkus review.

Choosing between print, ebook, and audio

  • Choose the hardcover if you want the established print edition; match ISBN 9781668080078 to avoid confusing it with another format.
  • Choose the ebook if you prefer reading on a screen, but confirm the retailer’s format, territory, and current availability.
  • Choose the audiobook if you want Gage’s narration; the publisher lists a runtime of 7 hours 30 minutes.
  • Check the paperback date before ordering: the publisher lists October 20, 2026, which is after October 8, 2026.

Retailer inventory, access terms, and regional availability can change. The publisher’s listings are useful for identifying formats and editions, but readers should confirm the final offer with the retailer or library they use.
