Tim Godbee said he ended his engagement to Alex Byrd after feeling manipulated and seeing “no serious effort” from his partner. Alex disputed his account, saying the breakup was Tim’s decision, not a mutual one. Their October 2024 statements offer conflicting descriptions of the relationship; neither account independently establishes what happened between them.

On October 16, 2024, Tim posted that he had decided to leave what he described as a toxic situation. He said he felt manipulated and received no serious effort from his partner. He also said difficult conversations and arguments had taken place off camera. Those are Tim’s allegations, as reported by Us Weekly and theJasmineBRAND; they are not independently established findings.
What Tim said about feeling manipulated
Us Weekly reported Tim’s statement: “Through hours of tough conversations that weren’t seen, I made the decision to remove myself from what felt like a toxic situation where I was being manipulated and given no serious effort from my partner.” His wording presents manipulation and a lack of effort as his experience and interpretation of the relationship.

How Alex responded
In an interview with Vulture, quoted by Us Weekly, Alex rejected Tim’s characterization and said he had made the decision to end the relationship. “It’s been unfortunate to see a lot of things Tim has been posting over the last 24 hours, but it wasn’t a mutual decision,” she said. She described disagreements that often surfaced after filming and said they were incompatible. Responding to his accusations, she added: “All of that is not true.”

The statements overlap on one point: both describe conflict beyond what viewers saw during filming. They disagree about what that conflict meant and how to characterize the breakup. The October 2024 reports do not resolve those differences.
