After Love Is Blind Season 5 filmed, Izzy Zapata says he met Johnie Maraist at a Houston bar, kissed her, and realized they were not right for each other. His explanation was that he was still not over Stacy Snyder. The kiss was an off-camera coda to a triangle that had already played out on the show—and it did not mean Izzy and Johnie resumed a relationship.
What happened between Izzy, Stacy, and Johnie on the show?
Izzy dated both Stacy and Johnie in the pods, then chose Stacy. After Johnie reconnected with Chris, Izzy confronted her at the cast barbecue. Netflix’s recap describes a tense conversation involving the four and the conflict between Stacy and Johnie that followed. At the wedding, Izzy said yes; Stacy said she needed more time and did not marry him.
Netflix’s Season 5 recap covers those on-screen events. The later kiss between Izzy and Johnie was not shown as part of the season’s filmed story.
What did Izzy say happened with Johnie after filming?
In a Bustle interview published October 16, 2023, and updated February 20, 2024, Izzy said he apologized to Johnie after filming and later saw her at a Houston bar. He said they tried to see whether a romantic spark remained, made out in his Jeep, and concluded they were not each other’s person.

Izzy’s explanation for why it did not go further: “It was clear that I wasn’t over Stacy, and she wasn’t over the fact I told her no in the pods.” That is Izzy’s account of their encounter and of Johnie’s feelings; it is not an independently established account of her perspective.
What did Stacy and Johnie say about the conflict?
Izzy and Stacy told Bustle they had heard from cast members that Johnie made negative comments about Stacy’s appearance after Izzy chose her. Those allegations are their reported accounts, not comments independently verified in the article. At the reunion, Johnie acknowledged making some “kind of petty” comments after the breakup, while maintaining that she did not think Izzy and Stacy were compatible.

The same 2024 page said Johnie was then in a relationship with a NASA engineer; it does not establish her current relationship status.
