First find out which path is sending your broadcast: LiveReacting’s direct hosting or Plugin Mode with a local encoder such as OBS. In Plugin Mode, check the encoder and YouTube’s stream-health messages, then test the computer’s outbound connection. With direct hosting, LiveReacting says the broadcast runs on its servers and can continue after you close the browser or shut down your computer, so a stop is not automatically a home Wi-Fi problem.
Identify what is actually stopping
Before changing settings, distinguish a stream ending from a viewer-side playback problem. Check YouTube Live Control Room and ask whether the broadcast disappeared, the encoder disconnected, the picture froze or went black, or only some viewers reported buffering.
- One viewer has an error: Check that viewer’s device and network first; the issue may be local to them.
- Several viewers on the same network have trouble: Their shared network may be involved.
- Viewers on separate networks report the same problem: Investigate the encoder or stream path.
YouTube describes these as diagnostic clues, not proof of a single cause. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance explains how to use viewer reports alongside encoder checks.
Check whether LiveReacting is using Plugin Mode
LiveReacting supports direct streaming from Studio and Plugin Mode, which uses local software such as OBS, Wirecast, StreamYard, or Ecamm. Open the YouTube settings in LiveReacting Studio and confirm which mode is active before troubleshooting.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If Plugin Mode is active
The local encoder, computer, and network are part of the streaming path. Use the encoder’s status and YouTube’s stream-health messages to locate the failure.
If LiveReacting is hosting directly
LiveReacting says its hosted broadcasts run on its servers and continue if you close the browser or shut down your computer. A closed laptop or home connection therefore is not, by itself, an explanation for a direct-mode stream ending. Check the broadcast status in Studio and investigate the LiveReacting service or YouTube destination; if Studio reports an unexpected end, contact LiveReacting support.

Troubleshoot Plugin Mode and other local encoders
- Update and inspect the encoder. Install the current version of the software, check its output preview, and look for encoder errors. Check CPU load while streaming; heavy load can affect encoding.
- Review a local recording. If available, play a recording made by the encoder and check for the same audio or video faults. A healthy local recording helps separate capture or encoding problems from problems farther along the connection.
- Test outbound connectivity. If the encoder output looks and sounds healthy, test the connection from the streaming computer to the internet. For an unstable local setup, compare results under the same conditions and consider whether the connection can reliably sustain the chosen stream quality.
- Choose a dependable quality and test before the event. YouTube advises: “Make sure you choose a quality that will result in a reliable stream based on your internet connection.” Test with similar audio and motion before going live, then monitor stream health during the broadcast.
- Check keyframe frequency. YouTube recommends a 2-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed 4 seconds. This is general guidance for streams sent through an encoder, not a LiveReacting-only setting.
For more detail on encoder output, network checks, and interpreting stream health, see YouTube’s troubleshooting steps and its live encoder settings guidance.
Review LiveReacting Studio settings
LiveReacting’s Studio settings allow a custom video bitrate or Auto, which LiveReacting describes as selecting an optimal bitrate based on project settings. If the stream is unstable, compare the selected bitrate with the capacity of the connection used by a local encoder; do not assume Auto or a higher bitrate will solve an underlying connection problem.

LiveReacting recommends audio at 128k unless you know the destination supports a higher input bitrate, noting that higher audio quality could cause playback problems. For a direct-hosted stream, follow the relevant Studio controls and contact LiveReacting if the broadcast ends unexpectedly; the available troubleshooting guidance does not establish a universal direct-mode reconnection fix.
Check duration only when the stop time repeats
If the stream ends at the same planned time each run, inspect its scheduled or configured duration. LiveReacting’s help says YouTube has no duration limit, but streams longer than 12 hours will not be archived. That archive note concerns whether a recording is saved; it does not establish a 12-hour automatic disconnection rule. LiveReacting’s duration guidance covers the distinction.
