Warning: spoilers for the Season 25 finale, “Time to Move On?”
Zach and Tori Roloff did not leave Little People, Big World through a dramatic on-camera confrontation or a final family reunion. Their departure was presented as the result of years of separation, a failed attempt to buy part of Roloff Farms, growing concern about filming with their children, and a belief that the show no longer represented a healthy project for their family.
“Time to Move On?” aired on April 23, 2024, as the tenth and final episode of Season 25. It functioned as a farewell to Zach and Tori, even though it did not fully resolve Zach’s relationship with his father, Matt Roloff, and TLC did not issue a clear formal cancellation announcement at the time.
What happened in the Season 25 finale?
The finale centered on what the Roloff family had lost as it moved away from the farm-centered life portrayed in the show’s early years. Zach reflected on Roloff Farms as the place where he grew up, while acknowledging that it would not occupy the same role in his own children’s lives.

That change followed Zach and Tori’s unsuccessful effort to purchase a portion of the farm from Matt. After the deal failed, Zach, Tori, and their children established their home in Battle Ground, Washington. The finale treated that move as more than a change of address: it represented the couple’s decision to build a separate family life away from the farm and from the conflict surrounding it.
Zach rejected the idea that he and Tori were intentionally keeping their children away from Roloff Farms as an act of revenge. His explanation was that the family had moved on, the children had not been asking to visit, and they had their own home, routines, and space in Washington. He described his relationship with Matt as minimal. Although he allowed that time could make things better, he did not suggest that the relationship had been repaired or would simply return to what it was before.
The fundraiser showed how divided the family had become
Another major storyline involved a fundraiser for the Dwarf Athletic Association of America. Amy Roloff and Chris Marek, along with Matt Roloff and Caryn Chandler, were connected to the event, which went ahead even though the younger Roloff generation did not attend.
The discussion after the fundraiser emphasized how rarely the family now gathered at the farm. Amy’s largely unused guest space for her grandchildren became a symbol of that distance: the room existed for a family life that no longer unfolded there in the way it once had.

That contrast gave the episode the feeling of an ending. It was not, however, a conventional all-cast goodbye. There was no formal reunion, no final conversation in which Zach and Matt settled their differences, and no definitive statement that the family had fully reconciled.
Why did Zach and Tori leave the show?
Zach and Tori announced their decision in February 2024 on their Raising Heights podcast. Tori was direct about the decision, saying, “We are done,” and describing that chapter of their lives as closed. Their explanation pointed to several connected reasons rather than one isolated incident.

1. The farm dispute created lasting family tension
The failed farm deal was central to the conflict. Zach and Tori had wanted to buy a portion of Roloff Farms, but the transaction did not happen. The disagreement became intertwined with broader tensions between Zach and Matt, and Zach later said the most recent filming cycle had been difficult because of the family conflict and the unresolved farm situation.
The available account establishes that the attempted transaction failed and contributed to the estrangement. It does not provide a complete, independently verified record of every offer, negotiating term, or point of disagreement. It is therefore more accurate to describe the farm dispute as a major source of tension than to present one side’s version as a fully adjudicated account of what happened.

Tori said that the couple no longer believed in the show and that the last year had been particularly difficult. Her comments suggested that leaving was not simply a tactical decision about one season. It reflected a loss of confidence in the series itself and in the way their family’s story was being handled.
The couple had signaled this change before their final announcement. In 2022, Tori said that their time on television appeared to be coming to a close. She also raised concerns that viewers formed misconceptions because they saw only the material TLC chose to show rather than the family’s complete reality.
3. They wanted stronger boundaries around their children
Filming with children became increasingly complicated for Zach and Tori. They discussed the pressure that could come from expecting their children to participate in a television production, particularly as the children grew older and developed their own preferences.
The couple acknowledged that their oldest son, Jackson, had at times expressed reluctance about being involved. That made the decision more personal: Zach and Tori did not want the show’s needs to pressure their children into appearing on camera or continuing a family role they had not chosen for themselves.

4. Tori did not want the show to damage family relationships further
Tori also said it was time to move on because she did not want the circumstances around the show to make her hate the family. That comment helps explain why the exit was framed as a boundary rather than as a publicity stunt or a single public feud.
For the couple, continuing to film could keep the farm dispute, disagreements, and family tension active. Leaving offered a way to protect their household—even if it meant accepting that the relationship between Zach and Matt might remain limited.
5. They objected to aspects of how their lives were portrayed
The couple’s podcast discussion referred to boundaries and depictions of their lives that they considered inaccurate. Their concern was not only whether filming was difficult, but whether the finished program communicated a version of their family that they recognized.
That distinction matters. Zach and Tori did not say simply that they were tired of being on television. They described a conflict between the demands and portrayal of the series and the way they wanted to handle family problems away from the show’s established dynamic.
Did Zach and Tori quit, or were they fired?
The public explanation supports describing their departure as a choice to leave. They were not publicly presented as having been fired. Zach did note that TLC had not technically asked them to return at the time of the announcement, which adds an important qualification: the couple announced that they were finished, but the network’s renewal plans were not clearly established in the public record.
The safest summary is that Zach and Tori chose not to continue, regardless of whether TLC had formally offered them another season. Their decision was based on their family’s boundaries and their view that the show was no longer working for them.

What does Zach’s departure mean for the series?
Zach had appeared on Little People, Big World since the series debuted in 2006. Tori joined the show after beginning her relationship with Zach and later marrying him in 2015. Their exit removed the last of the original Roloff children who remained a regular central link between the early family story and the later seasons.
That is why the departure carries more weight than an ordinary cast change. Zach was present when the show documented the Roloff children growing up. His adult life, marriage, children, and conflict with Matt became part of the program’s later structure. Once he and Tori left, the series lost the family connection that had carried the audience from the original farm years into the next generation.
The finale made that transition visible without pretending it had been solved. Zach’s separate Washington life, the couple’s absence from the fundraiser, his comments about the farm, and his description of his relationship with Matt all communicated that the family no longer operated as one shared household or storyline.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Was Season 25 the final season of Little People, Big World?
Season 25 was the last season to air, and “Time to Move On?” has been identified as the series finale by at least one episode listing. However, contemporaneous coverage was more cautious: TLC had not publicly confirmed whether the show would return, and there was no clear formal cancellation announcement.
Accordingly, the most accurate description is that Season 25 became the show’s apparent or de facto ending. Zach and Tori definitely left. The series had no confirmed new season in the information reviewed, but that is not the same as saying TLC officially canceled it.
As of August 12, 2026, no verified official TLC renewal or formal cancellation announcement had been located in the research reviewed. Current scheduling information showed no new episodes and described the show’s status as undetermined rather than documenting a formal cancellation. That status can change if TLC makes a later announcement.

The Bottom Line
Zach and Tori Roloff’s exit was a deliberate step away from a show they no longer trusted or wanted to build their family around. The Season 25 finale made that decision feel definitive through its focus on Roloff Farms, the family’s separation, and Zach’s unresolved relationship with Matt—but it offered a farewell, not a reconciliation or a confirmed TLC cancellation.
