Jelly Roll leads the night with three wins
Jelly Roll swept all three categories in which he was nominated. “Need a Favor” won both Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year, while his performance of the song from the 2023 CMT Music Awards won CMT Performance of the Year. CBS News reported that he was the ceremony’s most decorated artist.
His Video of the Year win came after the field was reduced to three finalists: Jelly Roll’s “Need a Favor,” Cody Johnson’s “The Painter,” and Kelsea Ballerini’s “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too).” Unlike the other categories, fans could continue voting for the top award during the live broadcast.

Where was the 2024 ceremony held?
The ceremony was held at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on April 7, 2024. Kelsea Ballerini served as host for the fourth consecutive time. The original distribution was CBS and Paramount+, although access to archived or replay content can vary by region, subscription, and platform availability.
How the 2024 CMT Music Awards were decided
The CMT Music Awards are centered on fan voting rather than an industry-only voting body. Fans selected the winners in the competitive video and performance categories. Video of the Year had a separate live-show voting stage: after the initial nominees were narrowed to three finalists, voting stayed open during the broadcast.
That process is different from the June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award, which was a special honor for Trisha Yearwood. The available reporting does not establish that the humanitarian award was selected through the same public vote.
