The available reporting supports a concise retrospective of several high-profile Lindsay Lohan controversies—not a verified ranking of ten. The best-documented episodes include two 2007 DUI-related arrests and their later court outcome, the 2011 Venice necklace case, and allegations in 2012 that prosecutors did not pursue or that did not have an established conviction in the cited reporting. The distinctions matter: an arrest or allegation is not proof of wrongdoing, and a charge is not the same as a final court outcome.
Why this is a selective account, not a top-ten ranking
The cited record does not substantiate a definitive list of ten incidents or a consistent basis for ranking them as the “biggest.” This account focuses on episodes for which the sources provide meaningful details, while identifying what was alleged, what happened in court, and what remains unestablished in that reporting.

2007: Two DUI-related arrests and the later pleas
A Los Angeles Times timeline dates Lohan’s first arrest to May 26, 2007, and a second arrest to July 24. Those arrests were stages in the chronology, not the eventual court disposition. In August, she pleaded guilty to misdemeanor cocaine use and driving under the influence, and no contest to reckless driving. The Times reports that the court imposed probation and ordered treatment. Los Angeles Times timeline, May 23, 2010.
2011: The Venice jewelry-store necklace case
Investigation and charge
On February 1, 2011, LAPD Pacific Area detectives said they obtained a search warrant for Lohan’s Venice residence as part of an investigation into a necklace reported stolen from a local jewelry store. That statement describes an investigation and warrant; it does not by itself establish guilt. LAPD, “LAPD Detectives Investigate Theft of Necklace”.

The Los Angeles Times later reported that Lohan was charged in connection with the necklace. Its contemporaneous account is a report of the charge and the evidence then reported, not a final finding that the original allegation was proven. Los Angeles Times, February 10, 2011.
April court ruling
In April, Judge Stephanie Sautner found that Lohan had violated probation in connection with the episode, according to the Los Angeles Times. The judge ordered 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service, and the necklace charge was reduced to a misdemeanor. These were separate court consequences: the probation ruling should not be confused with the original charge remaining a felony. Los Angeles Times, “Lindsay Lohan has a mixed day in court,” April 23, 2011.

An Irish Independent retrospective timeline reports two separate vehicle-related allegations in 2012 and says prosecutors declined to bring charges. It gives reported reasons including lack of direct evidence in one matter and insufficient evidence in another. A decision not to prosecute is not a determination that an allegation was either true or false. The same timeline reports that Lohan was arrested in November 2012 over an alleged assault at a nightclub; the cited account does not establish a conviction for that allegation. Irish Independent, “Lindsay Lohan: A Timeline of Trouble,” March 25, 2013.

How to read the headlines against the court record
- Arrest: a person is taken into custody; it is not, by itself, proof of the accusation.
- Charge: prosecutors formally accuse someone of an offense; the charge may later change or be resolved in court.
- Plea or finding: a plea and a judge’s ruling are specific legal outcomes and should be described as such rather than generalized into a claim that every allegation was proven.
- No charges: prosecutors declining to proceed means there was no prosecution in that matter, not that the underlying allegation was established or disproved.
