During Georgia’s turn in the convention’s second-night roll call, Lil Jon joined the delegation on the floor. He entered with his trademark “YEAAHHHHH,” performed part of “Turn Down for What,” and led the crowd in chanting “We’re not going back,” according to contemporaneous accounts from Axios Atlanta and Pitchfork.

He also adapted “Get Low” for the moment, shouting “V.P. Harris, Governor Walz!” Pitchfork reported that line; Axios Atlanta described customized lyrics including “VP Harris to the Walz.” These are reported performance lines, not a verified transcript.
Why the roll call included music
The convention made the roll call a live, musical presentation. The Democratic National Convention said a DJ played a song chosen to represent each delegation, and all 57 delegations delivered remarks and cast ceremonial votes for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. The convention’s August 20, 2024 account listed Lil Jon’s appearance with Georgia as a highlight.

The roll call did not decide the nomination
Harris had already secured the Democratic nomination through an earlier virtual roll call. The DNC dates that vote to August 6, 2024, when Harris received a majority. The Chicago convention-floor roll call that followed was ceremonial: it recognized the Harris-Walz ticket in front of the convention audience rather than determining the nominee.
