What is the Death Star set, and how many minifigures does it include?
Set 75419 is a 9,023-piece Ultimate Collector Series Death Star model announced by LEGO on 4 September 2025. LEGO confirmed the set includes 38 LEGO Star Wars minifigures. Its build recreates scenes from A New Hope and Return of the Jedi, including the trash compactor, Princess Leia’s cell, the tractor-beam control unit, Emperor Palpatine’s throne room and the Imperial shuttle hangar. LEGO’s announcement lists the model at over 20.6 inches (52.3 cm) high, 18.9 inches (48.0 cm) wide and 15.1 inches (38.3 cm) deep, and marks it for ages 18 and up.
What record does LEGO claim?
LEGO’s claim is specifically about the Star Wars theme. Its official Death Star set history describes the 2025 version as containing “38 LEGO Star Wars minifigures and figures, the most ever to be featured in a LEGO Star Wars set to date.” That wording combines “minifigures and figures”; LEGO’s launch announcement reports 38 minifigures.
For all LEGO themes, Brick Fanatics’ ranking published on 26 September 2025 put the Death Star first with 38 minifigures. The ranking listed Castle Giant Chess Set 852293 with 31, Avengers Tower 76269 with 28, and Daily Bugle 76178 with 25. That is a dated independent comparison, not a LEGO-certified database audit. How does it compare with earlier LEGO Death Stars?
LEGO’s set history gives the earlier Death Star playsets smaller minifigure counts:

The 2005 Death Star II set 10143 appears in LEGO’s history as a 3,449-piece model, but the page does not give a figure count for it. It should not be assigned a number from that source.

Why the old “leaked” headline needs updating
The leak-era wording reflects uncertainty that no longer applies. LEGO officially announced set 75419 on 4 September 2025, then scheduled Insiders early access for 1 October and general availability for 4 October 2025. Those dates and prices are historical launch information, not confirmation of present availability or current pricing. At launch, LEGO listed prices of $999.99 USD, £899.99 GBP and €999.99 EUR.

Thirty-eight figures make the set unusually populated, but the total alone does not establish which set is the best value or the best display model. The 9,023-piece build is designed around a large collection of recognizable original-trilogy scenes, and comparing figure counts across themes requires consistent rules for what qualifies as a minifigure. The number is useful as a contents fact and a record claim within LEGO Star Wars, not as a measure of build quality or value.
