What is season 2 about?
The second season puts Tommy in a more complicated position inside the West Texas oil industry. Cami Miller becomes the new head of M-Tex Oil, forcing Tommy to work within a company power structure he can no longer control in the same way. Their professional conflict is sharpened by the criminal network associated with Gallino.
Cooper’s storyline expands alongside the corporate and criminal plots. Tommy warns his son about dangerous business connections, but Cooper’s drilling success brings him increasing attention. As the season progresses, Cooper takes on more authority at a drill site and begins to look less like an inexperienced newcomer and more like an independent operator.
The season also widens the Norris family story by introducing Tommy’s father, T.L. Norris. His arrival gives the series another generation of oil-field experience to place beside Tommy’s hard-earned knowledge and Cooper’s ambition.

Season 2 ending explained
Spoilers for the season 2 finale follow.
The finale does not provide a clean resolution to the show’s competing business and criminal conflicts. Cami meets with Gallino, a development that leaves the relationship between M-Tex’s leadership and Gallino’s network deliberately unsettled. The meeting also gives Gallino a route into the season’s corporate power struggle rather than leaving him on the edge of Tommy’s story.

Cooper ends the season in a much stronger commercial position. His leases have become highly productive, giving him momentum and leverage in the oil business. That success is not presented as a simple victory: it draws attention and increases the possibility that Cooper will become involved in the same dangerous pressures Tommy has spent the season trying to manage.
Tommy and Cooper regroup in the finale, but the family’s problems are not finished. With Cami, Gallino, Tommy, and Cooper all holding pieces of an unstable situation, the ending leaves several conflicts available for the next season.
Who is in the cast?
Billy Bob Thornton returns as Tommy Norris, the central figure balancing family responsibilities, oil-field operations, and increasingly difficult business relationships. Demi Moore has a substantially larger role as Cami Miller, who takes control of M-Tex after the events of season 1.
