Lady Gaga plays Rosaline Rotwood in Wednesday Season 2: a deceased, legendary Nevermore professor who returns as a ghost with powerful psychic abilities. Wednesday encounters Rotwood in Episode 6 while trying to recover her own psychic sight, and the meeting triggers the season’s Wednesday–Enid body-swap sequence.
Who does Lady Gaga play in Wednesday?
Gaga plays Rosaline Rotwood, a former Nevermore teacher whose grave lies in the school cemetery. Netflix describes Rotwood as “Mysterious and enigmatic” and as a legendary teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday.
Rotwood is not a living member of the faculty. She is dead and appears as a ghost, making her one of the show’s supernatural figures rather than a conventional mentor or antagonist.
What happens when Wednesday meets Rosaline Rotwood?
In Episode 6, Wednesday visits Rotwood’s grave while attempting to restore her psychic powers. She recites the inscription on the gravestone, summoning Rotwood and unleashing the former professor’s dark psychic abilities.

Enid’s interruption changes the encounter’s course: Wednesday and Enid swap bodies. Rotwood’s appearance therefore serves a specific story function. It advances Wednesday’s psychic storyline and sets up the body-swap interlude rather than becoming a long-running central character.
Which episode features Lady Gaga?
Gaga appears as Rosaline Rotwood in Season 2, Episode 6. The Los Angeles Times reported that her appearance lasts roughly two minutes, but the brief scene has a major effect on the plot because it leads directly to the body swap.
Why was Lady Gaga cast?
The casting grew out of the connection between Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary” and Wednesday’s Season 1 dance. A fan edit pairing the song with Wednesday’s dance went viral, inspiring co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough and the production team to contact Gaga.

Gough said the team shaped a small but impactful role around Gaga’s availability while she was touring. The result connects her real-world music identity to the show without requiring a large screen commitment.
Does Lady Gaga sing in Wednesday?
Yes, Gaga’s music is part of Season 2’s dance tradition, although her Rotwood scene is an acting appearance. Her new song “The Dead Dance” accompanies a dance by Enid and Agnes in Episode 7.
That placement follows “Bloody Mary,” which became closely associated with Wednesday’s viral Season 1 dance. Gaga has said that music was the reason she became involved with Wednesday.
