Kylie Minogue released “Lights Camera Action” on September 27, 2024, as the lead single from Tension II. Its nightclub-ready electronic framing introduced the next chapter of the album era, with an accompanying video directed by Sophie Muller and filmed in Budapest.
How “Lights Camera Action” launched Tension II
BMG announced Tension II for October 18, 2024, describing the 13-song album as a high-energy electronic collection with nine new studio tracks. The label said it moved further into electronic music and included collaborations with The Blessed Madonna, Orville Peck, Bebe Rexha, Tove Lo, and Sia. BMG’s announcement placed the single within that dance-focused direction.

Minogue described the continuation this way: “The Tension era has been so special to me … I can’t possibly let it be over just yet! Welcome to Tension II.”
Who wrote and produced the song?
Minogue, Lewis Thompson, and Ina Wroldsen wrote “Lights Camera Action”; Thompson produced it. The release announcement also characterized the song as capturing a carefree nightclub spirit and continuing the euphoric electronic sound associated with the earlier Tension album.
