In October 2025, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said ICE would be “all over” Super Bowl LX. By early February 2026, however, the NFL’s chief security officer said no ICE immigration-enforcement activities were planned for the game or related events. That did not mean federal agencies were absent: organizers said DHS personnel would support fan safety, and DHS declined to disclose personnel or future operations.
What did Kristi Noem say about ICE at the Super Bowl?
In an October 2025 interview with Benny Johnson, Noem was asked whether there would be ICE enforcement at Super Bowl LX. She answered, “There will be,” adding that the Department of Homeland Security was responsible for keeping the event safe. She then said, “So yeah, we’ll be all over that place … We’re going to enforce the law.” The Guardian reported the remarks on October 4, 2025.
Noem also said people should not attend unless they were “law-abiding Americans who love this country.” Her comments followed the NFL’s announcement that Bad Bunny would headline the halftime show.
What did the White House say at the time?
On the same day, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said she knew of “no tangible plan” for ICE to be at the Super Bowl. She also said the administration would continue immigration enforcement when it encountered undocumented immigrants who were criminals. Her response qualified the state of planning; it was not a declaration that federal agencies would have no role in event security. The Guardian reported Leavitt’s statement alongside Noem’s comments.

What did the NFL say before Super Bowl LX?
In early February 2026, NFL chief security officer Cathy Lanier said no ICE enforcement activities were planned for the game. At a public-safety news conference, she said: “No planned ICE enforcement activities, we are confident of that.” In a fuller statement reported by The Washington Post, Lanier said no ICE or immigration-enforcement operations were scheduled around the Super Bowl or its related events. Northwestern Medill reported Lanier’s remarks on February 6; The Washington Post reported the fuller statement on February 2.
The host committee said the NFL had confirmed with DHS that no ICE immigration-enforcement operations were planned for Super Bowl LX. It also said federal agents from DHS would support fan safety. Those statements distinguish immigration enforcement from the wider security work at a major sporting event; they do not establish that no federal agents or DHS agencies were involved.

Were there ICE raids at Super Bowl LX?
The public statements establish that officials said no ICE immigration-enforcement operations were planned. They do not document every individual agent’s presence or activity, so they cannot prove that no ICE personnel were anywhere at the event. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said, “We will not disclose future operations or discuss personnel.” The department’s designated event coordinator deferred to Lanier when asked to commit to no ICE operations. The Washington Post reported those DHS responses before the game.
Why do the statements sound different?
| Statement | What it addressed | What it established |
|---|---|---|
| Noem, October 2025 | Whether ICE enforcement would occur | She publicly predicted enforcement and said agents would be “all over” the event. |
| Leavitt, October 2025 | Whether there was a tangible ICE plan at that time | She said she knew of no such plan, while affirming continued enforcement in qualifying cases. |
| Lanier and the host committee, February 2026 | Planned ICE immigration-enforcement operations around the game and related events | They said no such operations were planned; organizers separately described DHS support for fan safety. |
| DHS, before the game | Personnel and future operations | It declined to disclose those details. |
The difference is partly timing: Noem spoke months before the game, while Lanier described the operational plans publicly in early February. It is also a difference in scope: a statement about planned ICE immigration enforcement is not the same as a statement about broader federal security support.
