Kristin Cavallari said she ended her relationship with Mark Estes because she did not see it working long term. She pointed to their 13-year age gap and different life experiences—not cheating or a specific falling-out—and said she believed he might eventually understand her decision and “thank” her.
Why did Kristin Cavallari break up with Mark Estes?
On the October 1, 2024 episode of her podcast Let’s Be Honest, Cavallari said she had initiated the breakup because she could not see a long-term future for the relationship. The Independent reported that she described the age and life-experience gap as part of her reasoning: Cavallari was 37 and Estes was 24, a 13-year difference. She felt he needed time to experience life and find himself. The Independent’s account of Cavallari’s explanation is the source for her comments and the episode context.
Cavallari said the split was not prompted by a loss of love or a specific harmful incident. “It’s not because of love lost or something bad happened. No one cheated. No one was mean. No one did anything,” she said, according to The Independent. She also characterized the relationship as healthy and happy, said she had no regrets, and expressed hope that they could remain friends.
What did Cavallari mean by “he will thank me”?
“I actually think one day he will thank me,” Cavallari said on the podcast, as quoted by The Independent. She was expressing her belief that Estes might later see why she felt ending the relationship was right for him as well as for her. It was her prediction about his future perspective, not a claim that he had agreed with her reasoning.
