Kingdom of Faith: The Saints in Cambodia is a documentary featured in a KSL report about the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cambodia. KSL’s October 2, 2026 listing said the film was scheduled to air Sunday, October 4, at 12:30 on KSL, between sessions of the Church’s general conference. That is a dated broadcast listing; it does not establish whether the documentary is available on demand.
What is Kingdom of Faith: The Saints in Cambodia?
KSL presents the documentary as a history of the Church in Cambodia, told in part through the experiences of Cambodian Saints and their families. Its report links the story to the Church’s return to Cambodia in the 1990s and to the first Cambodian temple, dedicated in Phnom Penh in 2026. KSL does not state the film’s runtime, director, production credits, or later distribution details. KSL’s October 2, 2026 report

How did the Church begin in Cambodia?
The history has two different starting points: small gatherings of expatriate Latter-day Saint families decades earlier, and the formal organization of the Church in Cambodia after the country’s civil conflict. The Church’s overview says a small group met in homes before war disrupted the community; Cambodian refugees later encountered the Church abroad, and after fighting ended, some Saints returned. Meetings and preaching resumed in Cambodia in 1994. Church overview

From early gatherings to upheaval
The Church’s own chronology says a few Latter-day Saint expatriate families occasionally held services in Cambodia in the 1960s and 1970s. It records the Khmer Rouge takeover and its consequences from 1975 to 1980, reporting that about two million citizens were killed or died of starvation and hundreds of thousands fled as refugees. These are figures published in the Church’s institutional chronology, not an independent demographic study. Church chronology
Return and formal organization in 1993–94
KSL identifies Vichit Ith and Larry White’s 1993 visit as central to the Church’s return. Ith, who had fled Cambodia as a teenager, recalled his reluctance to go back: “President White, no one wants to return to hell,” KSL quotes him as saying. Who are Leang and Saroeun Eav?
KSL’s report follows Leang and Saroeun Eav, who had young children when the Khmer Rouge came to power in 1975. As KSL recounts their family story, they survived forced marches and labor, escaped to Thailand in 1979 with help from a family friend, spent 18 months in a refugee camp, and later settled in Seattle. This account is presented by KSL as the family’s experience.
The documentary’s family arc continues across generations: KSL reports that descendants returned to Cambodia, five cousins received calls to serve missions there, and Leang and Saroeun later received an assignment to serve in a temple presidency in Cambodia. The report does not provide independent archival corroboration of these personal details. KSL’s report on the Eav family

What does the documentary’s history look like today?
KSL reported on October 2, 2026, that Cambodia had almost 18,000 Latter-day Saint members, two stakes, and two missions. These are the figures in that dated news report, not a separately audited or current count. The same report says Phnom Penh’s first Church temple was dedicated on August 30, 2026. Reflecting on the change since missionaries arrived in 1994, Ith told KSL: “To have a temple here in just 32 years, it is a miracle.” KSL, October 2, 2026
How to read the documentary’s sources
The available account brings together two kinds of material. KSL supplies the broadcast listing, the featured family narrative, Ith’s recollections, and its October 2026 membership and temple figures. The Church’s overview and chronology give institutional context and dates for its own history. Those sources illuminate different parts of the story; the Church pages are the institution’s account of its milestones, while KSL reports the documentary’s personal narrative and scheduled broadcast.
