Jonathan Tucker, known for playing Jay Kulina on Kingdom, helped a mother and her three children escape a neighbor’s home after an intruder entered it in Los Angeles’ Hancock Park neighborhood on Sunday, June 2, 2024. Reports say Tucker first called 911 after seeing a man behaving suspiciously and moving from house to house. He later noticed that a nearby home’s front door was open, entered to check on the occupants, and helped them get outside safely.
What happened in Hancock Park
The incident occurred at approximately 6:20–6:30 p.m. on June 2, 2024, in Hancock Park, a neighborhood in Los Angeles. According to local news reports, Tucker saw a man walking around the area, banging on doors and appearing to talk to himself. Tucker called 911 to report the behavior.
After briefly losing sight of the man, Tucker noticed that the front door of a neighboring house was open. He went to investigate because he was concerned that someone inside might be in danger. Reports describe the property as occupied by a mother and her three young children.
Tucker helped the family leave the house
The mother reportedly saw the intruder in the hallway and told her daughters to leave through the back of the home. Security-camera footage later showed Tucker entering the house barefoot. News reports also said that he helped the mother and children reach safety and carried one of the children outside.

Some reports described the event as a “home invasion,” while others used terms such as “hot prowl” or “home intrusion.” Because no public charging document establishing a final criminal classification was located in the available research, the incident is best described as an intruder entering a neighbor’s home rather than assigning a definitive legal label.
Reports said the suspect appeared to be experiencing a mental-health crisis. ABC7 characterized the episode as potentially involving a mental-health issue, while People/Yahoo reported that the suspect was later placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold. That reported hold should not be treated as a confirmed diagnosis or as a substitute for a court or official medical record.

How security footage documented the response
The reports’ reference to doorbell or security-camera footage is one reason the incident received a detailed public account. A video doorbell camera can provide features such as motion alerts, live viewing, night vision, two-way audio, and—depending on the model and plan—stored video history. Those features may help document activity at an entrance, but no camera guarantees safety or would necessarily prevent an intrusion.
