Keeper is a 2025 horror and mystery-thriller directed by Osgood Perkins, starring Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland. Its remote-cabin premise and the reported strength of Maslany’s performance may appeal to viewers looking for an unsettling mood; the main caution is that Rotten Tomatoes’ consensus says the story does not fully cohere. That makes it a better fit for atmosphere-first horror fans than for viewers who need a tightly unified plot.
What is Keeper about?
NEON’s spoiler-light synopsis sets up a couple’s weekend away: “While on a weekend getaway at a remote cabin, Liz (Tatiana Maslany) and Malcolm’s (Rossif Sutherland) romantic retreat takes a dark turn when a sinister presence unveils the cabin’s chilling past.” The setup points toward isolation, an ominous location and a past that intrudes on the present, without revealing the nature of the presence or the cabin’s history. NEON’s official film page describes it as “An experience of true terror”; that is distributor promotional copy, not an attributed quotation from a filmmaker.
Is Keeper worth watching?
The available reception evidence suggests a qualified recommendation rather than a straightforward yes or no. Rotten Tomatoes’ displayed consensus highlights unsettling moments and Maslany’s committed performance, but says the film lacks an altogether cohesive story. That contrast is the most useful guide to expectations: go in for an uneasy horror setup and a lead performance, not on the assumption that every story element will lock neatly into place.
At retrieval in 2026, Rotten Tomatoes showed a 51% Tomatometer from 114 reviews. That is a changeable aggregator snapshot, not a permanent rating or a score from an individual critic; the figure may differ when you check it. Cast, release and runtime
NEON identifies Osgood Perkins as director and Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland as stars. Rotten Tomatoes classifies the film as Horror / Mystery & Thriller, rates it R, and lists a runtime of 1 hour 39 minutes. Disney+ lists its 2025 title at 1 hour 38 minutes, so listings differ by a minute; check the runtime shown for the edition you plan to watch rather than treating either number as universal.
Rotten Tomatoes lists a wide U.S. theatrical release on November 14, 2025, and a streaming release on December 9, 2025. Where can you watch or own Keeper?
Disney+ and Hulu each have a title page for Keeper, and NEON’s official page offers a “Watch Now” option. A title page alone does not guarantee that the film is included in a subscription or playable where you live: availability can vary by territory and date. Check the service directly for your country and account before making plans. Disney+, Hulu and NEON provide the relevant title pages.
For a physical edition, NEON lists a Keeper 4K/Blu-ray combo. Its page also lists soundtrack vinyl and apparel.
