Kaitlan Collins’s reply to Donald Trump’s December 6, 2025 Truth Social post was brief: “Technically my question was about Venezuela.” Trump had called the CNN anchor “Stupid and Nasty” and said she had asked him why the White House ballroom was costing more than expected. Collins’s correction pointed to the subject she said she had actually asked about.

In an Instagram Story posted later that day, Collins wrote: “Technically my question was about Venezuela.” The line directly corrected Trump’s account of her question, without engaging with his personal insult.

What did Trump’s post say?
According to TV Insider’s December 7, 2025 report, Trump posted that “Caitlin Collin’s of Fake News CNN” was “always Stupid and Nasty,” then claimed she had asked why the new ballroom was costing more than originally expected. He misspelled Collins’s name in the post.
Trump also said the ballroom would be larger, have higher-end finishes and be funded by private donations. Those are assertions in his post; the reports cited here do not independently verify the project’s cost, design or financing.

What was the possible context?
TheWrap’s December 7 report said the post was presumably prompted by the previous Friday’s episode of The Source with Kaitlan Collins. The program covered the White House hiring a new ballroom architect after a clash with the original architect, and Collins played a clip from an interview with Trump at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. TheWrap’s explanation is a presumed connection, not confirmation of Trump’s motive.

The 2025 post was separate from a contentious exchange at the 2023 CNN town hall moderated by Collins. In a May 11, 2023 CNN transcript, Trump called her “a nasty person” after she pressed him for answers and challenged false statements. That earlier remark provides context for their public history, but it is not part of the December 2025 post.
