KPop Demon Hunters 2 is officially happening, but Netflix has not announced its release date, sequel cast, or plot. Netflix confirmed the animated sequel on March 12, 2026, with Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans returning as directors. Everything beyond that—including whether the original voice cast will return—remains unconfirmed.
What Netflix has confirmed about KPop Demon Hunters 2
Netflix’s March 12, 2026 announcement makes the sequel official. Kang and Appelhans will direct, and Netflix describes the film as the first project from their exclusive multiyear writing and directing partnership across animation.
The announcement says the directors intend to write the characters’ “next chapter,” challenge them and show them evolving. That wording confirms creative direction, not specific story events, villains or character outcomes.

The directors’ comments
Kang said, “I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters.” Appelhans said, “These characters are like family to us, their world has become our second home. We’re excited to write their next chapter, challenge them, and watch them evolve — and continue pushing the boundaries of how music, animation, and story can come together.”
