Justin Bieber’s SWAG II is a 23-song surprise follow-up built around a subdued pop/R&B palette. Apple Music’s description emphasizes its earthy, floaty sound and collaborator-led influences; Pitchfork’s Rich Juzwiak argues that the length and repetition make the album a chore. If you like understated, loosely varied collections, it offers more of the world established by SWAG. If you want a concise set of sharply differentiated songs, its scale is a real drawback.
What is SWAG II?
Bieber surprise-released SWAG II on September 5, 2025, 56 days after SWAG, according to the announcement from Universal Music Japan. The label identifies it as a full-length album containing 23 new songs.
That 23-song figure refers to the new material on SWAG II. Apple Music’s two-disc listing combines it with SWAG, giving the complete listing 44 songs and a runtime of 2 hours 11 minutes. The figures describe different things, not conflicting track counts. Apple Music’s listing also makes clear how substantial the combined release is for anyone planning a full listen.
What does it sound like?
Apple Music characterizes SWAG II as “earthy, floaty, understated,” placing its sound in a palette shaped by recent collaborators Dijon, Mk.gee, and Carter Lang, alongside older R&B influences including Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and D’Angelo. That is the service’s editorial framing rather than a measured description, but it points to the album’s unhurried, low-key direction.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Apple’s examples suggest the range Bieber reaches for within that approach: the sultry “OH MAN,” an indie-folk turn on “MOVING FAST,” and devotional themes in songs such as “EVERYTHING HALLELUJAH.” The collection favors atmosphere and shifts of color over an obviously high-energy, tightly compressed pop sequence.
Is it worth listening to?
The answer depends on how much you value mood and continuity against length and song-to-song contrast. Apple Music presents the album’s subdued palette as a strength: collaborators’ sounds and R&B reference points give the material a recognizable atmosphere. That makes SWAG II a better fit for listeners willing to spend time inside a long, restrained collection than for anyone seeking a quick overview of Bieber’s pop songwriting.

Pitchfork’s Rich Juzwiak offers a sharper counterpoint in his September 10, 2025 review. He argues that adding 23 tracks to an already lengthy project magnifies the original’s weaknesses, calling the sequel repetitive and its lyrics weak. His assessment raises a practical concern: songs that share a quiet palette can blur together when heard across such an expansive release. This is one critic’s judgment, not evidence of a universal critical consensus.

The sources checked establish a digital purchase listing and a streaming entry, but do not establish the availability of a physical SWAG II edition across retailers. The official UK store’s located 2LP listing is for the earlier SWAG, with its 21-track list—not for SWAG II. That vinyl listing should not be mistaken for a physical edition of the follow-up.
